可否解釋埋,"would do", "would have done'同"would have been doing"嘅分別?多謝!

Could 是否能~的意思

@@FrogHeat "would do"/"would have done"/"would have been doing" 常见於假设语气( subjunctive mood),要详解甚费周章,非三言两语能解。

I've been living in the US for more than 30 yrs, and I've been trying to explain to my wife about the difference between would and could. I've been using tons of every day examples, of course. However, she does seam to understand. This video is perfect for my wife. We'll see how it goes. Thanks a lot in advance

This video clip is a very good. Simple and effective to explain the difference. I particularly like you mentioned about don’t worry too much about the grammar even though wrongly used. I agree the attitude is more important.

5:32 如果省去 "would" 變成 “When I was a child, I visited my grandma every Sunday.” 意思是否一樣?
@catintheskywong2650Ай бұрын
This sentence uses the simple past tense "visited" which indicates that it refers to a specific period in the past but does not necessarily emphasize repetition. It could also imply a regular occurrence, but without the explicit connotation of a habitual action that "would" provides.
@PK-dp5woАй бұрын
個人經驗 喺平時做嘢嘅時候啲上司一般都係用can/could you go on xxx而唔會用would 好記得細個時學英文嘅時候老師强調過would係用嚟問意願 而could就係問能唔能夠去做某件事 講到nitpick 係得香港人先會經常去nitpick人哋啲英文 🤷♂ 我見啲外國人甚至係印度人佢哋只要明白你講乜就得 根本完全唔會care同nitpick你講錯佐啲語法或者單詞
1:39 More strictly speaking, I was taught that 'will' and 'would' were simply two different modal verbs instead of 'would' being the past tense for 'will', and similar for other pairs e.g. 'shall' and 'should', 'can' and 'could' etc. They do not form such relationships

Good day Maggie. I do not intend to accredit nor to discredit your videos. I would just like to respond to your statement made at the final part of this video. You stated that “some people on the net like to nitpick Asian teaching English”. Well I WILL never give my thumbs up to those a-holes. But some of these “teachers” deserve to get nitpicked, when they made some careless mistakes, meanwhile they tried to challenge native speakers by doing 拋書包. I can tell you seem to be a semi-native speaker, having been raised in an English speaking environment. I agree that even native speakers will not be able to tell the subtle difference between “would” & “could”. I definitely can’t! You might have heard that recently another channel like yours, the “teacher” pronounced the word plumber as “plum-ber”, the word pour as “poor”…. As a native speaker, I truly believe it is unacceptable. My advice to you is simple when you teach non academic matters: be natural, just bring out what you experienced when you were in the US. Therefore, the difference between “would”&”could”, you already mentioned they are almost the same, then this type of materials might not be necessary. That “another” channel tends to teach some daily lives use expressions but full of mistakes. You are probably aware of which I am talking about…
