thank you guys, just beautiful, from an english man that searved 42 years in the irish defence forces, i would not change that for the world, god bless to my comrades that have passed i wont forget ye, sleep well guys.

This is so so beautiful. At funerals people promise not to forget - but often we don’t actively remember. Talk of your loved one. Share stories. Even the simple act of saying their name out loud is a powerful act. I don’t know your husband, father, brother, friend but I feel privileged to witness your love for him. May he sleep well. David in Galway 💕

My grandma was from Edinburgh and she used to sing these songs to me when she was taking care of me. In fact, my ancestors originally came from the UK, with a little Norse in the mix. My Scottish grandma and her influence are what led to me playing the bagpipes. The last time I ever played them was for funeral. After that, I just couldn’t pick them up again. Her funeral reminded me of Scotland sometimes when the skies were grey with light rain. I had to stand outside of the mausoleum because it would have been too loud for a small chapel like that. I still have them, but they would need a major overhaul in order to be playable. Maybe before I pass away, I will pick them up and start playing them again. Nothing stirs the blood like the Highland bagpipes.

You have my sincere condolences for your loss. May The Lord grant you His Peace and Comfort. Yes, I do love to hear the pipes. Something about the sounds from the different types of bagpipes seem to call me back to some ancient memories from Scotland and Ireland. The pipes may be an acquired taste, but anyone with the Celtic or Gaelic blood will experience a hyper sensitivity to them and make you really understand your roots in society.
