Drop dead gorgeous -that choir, that soloist, both those wildly different pieces side by side -everything about this gave me goosebumps. Most of all I liked that motet. It is next level composing considering the time it was written, in the Renaissance. Those chords and harmonic changes!, and it was sung sooo beautifully…. just glorious. I loved the way you listened, Jeff, and pointed out those divine dynamics subtleties 🧡 Gallo, the composer, also known as Handl or Petelin (all meaning rooster in various languages) only lived for 41 years…but had an enormous musical output in his life and introduced some revolutionary changes in the way sacred music was written back then. Big thanks to whoever suggested this piece, and to you Jeff, for featuring it ⭐️👍⭐️

Ecce quomodo moritur iustus is a choral piece from the renaissance written by Jacob Hadl, who was Slovenian. The language is Latin. The piece, called a motet, was written for the church. Perpetuum Jazzile is a Slovenian group, and all the singers are from Slovenia. They sing in many languages, of which English is but one. The spoken part is, I believe, in Slovenian. The beginning, and the end, was done to honor the groups Slovenian heritage. This was recorded before over 20,000 people at their Vokal Xtravaganzza concert in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Perpetuum Jazzile is an amateur choir that is all acapella. They are from Slovenia. They use beat box for their percussion. This song is from their annual concert, which is performed for 3 nights, each night before 20,000+. This is from the 2009 Vokal Extavaganzza. It has been viewed by 1.3 million views! There have been a number of directors over the years. The conductor seen here was the conductor/director for about 5 years, and brought the group to it's high level of excellence. I can't bring up his name right now. There have been several since his departure. The span of their music is incredible. I will post numbers that will have you shaking your head.

Thanx a lot, Richard Todd... Now I gotta rethink my December choice..🙃😎 Not sure, but I think they've been pretty much semi-professional for quite a few years. They have done quite a few extended tours (including to the USA) and are going out for single performances around Europe with some regularity, and they frequently appear on Slovenian broadcasting. Membership varies from a couple dozen to nearly fifty for their big annual show, which runs for several performances aver a week and a half.

@@michaelgwfrogwelge Amateur, semi-professional, I was tryin g to indicate that the bulk of the group don't earn the bulk of their income performing. Many of the early "stars" of the group have left due to the amount of time it takes away from everything else. Their fame and success have ebbed and flowed over the years. I just take joy from their joy. And i love what they accomplish.

The conductor here is Tomaž Kozlevčar (he was with PJ for 10 years, 2001-2011) and the guy singing solo is his son, Nino Kozlevčar. After him PJ were led by Peder Karlsson (2011-2014) and from 2015 they have no official leader but they manage of their own ... ❤
