I understand why everyone is saying 800 for what “looks like a nightgown” is not good but what everyone is forgetting is that not only is it silk (which is already super expensive) but it’s HANDMADE silk which makes it a super luxury material. Frankly 800 dollars for a floor length handmade silk gown is really really good.

@@stephwiller9089 it’s just tradition, and actually 1 of the 3 dresses is usually a traditional dress, so not 3 western white dresses. For example in Chinese weddings a red chinese dress is worn during the traditional tea ceremony. Then it’s a wedding ceremony dress and a wedding reception dress usually, which many western brides do too!

I'm not sure whether is this her reason too, but during the wedding dinners that I attended, the bride usually have dress changes in the middle of the dinner time. For example, at my cousin's wedding, she had 3 different wedding dresses on for the wedding dinner alone. These dresses doesn't include the one she wore for the wedding itself. So, in total, she had 4 wedding dresses.

It is expensive because of the material. Handmade silk is possibly the most expensive material for wedding gowns. Some versions of lace may come close, but handmade silk tops the costs over. It is usually used for simple gowns because it is very delicate material to work with and the shine which it gives and the way it falls over the body makes it a bad choice of a material to be added embellishments on, especially sparkles.

I think what a lot of people can't see in these shows is the material the dresses are made of. Some of the dresses are more sparkly, others way more simple, but the material is gorgeous. I think that's what was going on with the "lingerie" dress
