Will Your Blueberry Flowers Turn Into Fruit? Here is How To Know (Bloom stages and Pollination)

As you all know I have had a lot of trouble getting my potted blueberries to produce fruit.
Fingers crossed that this is the year. the blooms look great, they appear to be pollinating and I am seeing signs of little green blueberries appearing.
In this short video I will show you the bloom stages and try to help you identify if your blueberry plant will produce fruit.

Thanks! For the blueberry I use a mix of 1/3 potting soil, 1/3 spagnum peat moss and 1/3 tropicals soil. I then add an organic fertilizer for acid loving plants. This keeps them well fed and the soil airy. The baby cakes are a lot less picky so I just use a regular potting mix and some all purpose granular fertilizer.

I’m in Australia so it’s the start of winter here and my blueberries flowered in fall. Is this normal or are they meant to flower in spring? Thanks!

Generally they should flower in spring. But possibly you have a variety better tuned to your warmer climate?

Yep, I'm in Australia too and it's almost winter and I've got flowers on mine. But I've picked then off because I didn't want it to flower so soon, just to keep it's energy as it's still a small plant.

Will blueberry plants from nursery that have flowers already produce the first year?

Possibly. It really depends how old the plant is and if it goes through any transplant shock. Small plants that are less than a foot high probably won't do much.

what can you do as a gardener to INSURE the flowers turn into berries???

Healthy plant and a healthy number of pollinators like bees. You also should have 2 or more varieties for cross pollination.

You never did answer my question? Once I have flowers on my plant how do I make certain they will become berries? Do I add magnesium? Do I add acidifier? This video does not tell you anything about what to do to ensure that you will have berries

You need pollinators like bees and you need acidic soil so that the plant can thrive. I did another video on a very good acidic fertilizer. Did you see that one?
