I mean when they print too much, too many sets, too many cards, and then they absolutely destroy the prestige of one of the highest level rarities after a lot of other small problems it's pretty normal for prices to go down, can't say I'm surprised 👾

Sorry, but i think it is nice that they go down. It is a trading card game meant to play. Of course for collectors that is sad or just demotivating, but Konami does not care about high values in the aftermarket. They dont profit from it and more and more people can have cool rarities for much less money. Cardboard shouldnt have prices like 1000 euros except it is very very very rare. If one likes to pay that much thats fine.

That's not something that applies to players though. A card like Triple Tactics Thrust is 70$ for players and that sucks, but that has no value for collectors since it's a very recent card that will be obviously be reprinted eventually. What collectors care about are old cards. Like, an Ulti caius is 300 bucks but anybody can just buy a common one for a few cents and still play it.

@@mengatasuzume334 yeah you're right kinda forgot that some cards desperately need a reprint to lower prices for new players. Prosperity also a good example...

I think Konami does care about high valued aftermarket cards. They know that appealing to collectors helps them move significantly more product. In a sense, they do profit off of it.

When everythings special, nothngs special With that being said, magnificant mavens booster packs sky rocketed up and then disappeared from tcg market, display cases are starting to move.

All meme investments will continue to lose value. Doesn't matter if it's cards, crypto, or gamestonks. It was always nothing more than a get rich quick scheme.

Hit the nail on the head at 6:00. It does seem really hard to invest in yugioh at the moment compared to other card games like Pokémon.Even if not investing no one likes buying cards only for it to lose value years down the line.

I think yes because of the reprints. wow. need those cards. wow.

Very interesting overall with yugioh prices compared to magic the gathering prices. Maybe yugioh could do what magic the gathering's reserve list. It might help restore the collector's confidence, and i am both a collector and player. I am just an outsider looking in, so i dont know the ins and outs of this tcg.

For me, I prefer to not have a "reserve list" because there is no set rotation and I would feel a bit constrained if they did implement one. Just my opinion

Of course, no more PPP loans, stimulus checks, and unemployment to artificially prop up the market. We are in a recession and close to 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, things are about to get worse before they get better.

Hope the prices continue to fall for the next 5 years! For collectors - cheaper the cards the better. For investors - in any long term hold investment (like collectibles) - you make your money by buying when the market drops, absorbing the items sold by people who cant afford to hold them long term! I consider any money I put in to the hobby as spent and not invested but I use something similar to Smprattes Older Rarer Minter Better method when deciding what to buy and I'm confident that in 10 years time the cards I've bought will be worth more than they are now! Which just means i can sell them to buy more cards!

I don't care about value I just collect for the artwork and I love the annual tins they reprint all expensive cards and make them easier for casual collectors to get

I used to play Yugioh and spent allot on it but I got tired of opening packs and getting the same common card 5 times while in magic the gathering I’ll get that card like once.
