Exactly like production is clearly taking optics into account with the placements. Same thing with the trans girls. They are making a point to cast trans girls on the newer seasons. Saying that shouldn't take anything away from Kylie or Kerri Kolby or anybody.

I think the fact that no one really seems to care about other POC is problematic as well. Season 3 was super uplifting to me as an Asian-American bc it was 2 Asian queens in the finale and that's the first and last time an Asian queen won. And outside of Manila and Kim Chi, there has been no one else. Bianca is the only Latinx queen who won and Nina Flowers and Adore are the only other Latinx girls to make it to the finale. Just food for thought that it's not only black and white.

this is such a lame crybaby liberal take. plenty of latino queens get favored n great edits, its not productions fault they cant live up to the hype and win. as for the asian queens, in recent years kahmora n rock are great but cmon they bombed their seasons. they should cast more but its not as serious as other racial issues from the show/fandom. especially since most of them get SO MUCH love regardless of where they placed. i do agree however that puerto rican queens are given the short end of the stick even tho theyre some of the fiercest in their respective casts(largely due to the racist language barrier). STOP CRYING ABOUT THIS KINDA STUFF THO, IT DOES NOT HOLD THE SAME WEIGHT AS HORDS OF FANS SENDING DEATH THREATS N RACIST COMMENTS TO BLACK QUEENS. get a grip.

I'm more so annoyed that when a black queen gets to the top 3/4/5, fans will try to find a way to dismiss her and say she "didn't do good" or "she won because she's black". It happened with Bob, Monét, Jaida and Symone. I'm 1,000% sure that it would've happened too Asia if she won S10 also.

Well, Bob and Symone deservedly won. Monet winning with Trinity was kinda weird, we all know that. And Jaida only won because Gigi was stupid, even though she was the best competitor. Also, to me, Asia (and also Eureka) deserved to win more than Aquaria. But those are just my humble opinions. The thing is... Since AS 4, the show has been desperate to prove it's inclusive. If it was a fair game, based purely on what the queens serve along the competition and not on fake inclusiveness, narratives or favoritism, the line-up of winners would be very different from the one we see today.

@@vfvf8495 Wrong. You do know Gigi only had like a little bit more points in terms of overall score? Jaida was CONSISTENT and never was below safe except once while Gigi had a couple lows. If GIgi hadn’t won that last challenge which she shouldn’t which is weird cause it never happened in 11 seasons before, then Jaida would have a better track record. Willam just worded it weirdly, but Willam didn't mean any hurt by it. Regardless Angeria was going to the finale since she killed the whole season. This season was so stacked with so much talent. I believe if Kornbread didn't hurt her ankle she would've be in the finale. The drag race community just needs to have more conversations on topics like race on the show. The show needs to move forward and support all sizes, genders, and races. Casting needs changed and move forward.

I get what she was saying, AND I get the backlash. Willam’s speaking to how the producers make their decisions, which aren’t always fair. Obviously. Of course Angeria DESERVED to be in the finale based on her performance, Willam wasn’t disputing that. I think underlying her statement is that just because someone deserves to move forward doesn’t mean they will, because production considers other factors when making those decisions. So, Angie DESERVED to be in the finale on her own merit, but productions decision to put her in the finale probably also considered race, fan backlash, appearance for the brand, etc.

If This MUFFLING AND MINCING OF SPEECH Continues It's Going To Get To The Point NO ONE Will Wanna Interact With Anyone Outside Of Their Race, No One Will Care, Rally, Protest Or Stand Up For One Another Against Mistreatment Anymore, We Probably Won't Even Be Allowed To Tell Anyone Or Talk About It Due To It Being Deemed Inappropriate And Everyone Will Be Divided. Exactly What They Want It May Sound Corny But It's True "United We Stand, Divided WE FALL! United It's More Of Us, Divided It's More Of Them And The Very Thing You're Afraid Of People Thinking You Are Is The Very Tool They're Using To Try To Achieve This...RACISM. WE'D BE THEE STRONGEST NATION OF PEOPLE IN THEE WORLD Who Wouldn't Need Or Have The Government To Thank For It. Noooo They Need Us To Need Them, Be Afraid Of Them And Fall For This "HUSH" Agenda As I Call It. There have been a lot of times when a queen's appearance is said to be a factor of the winner in confessionals (Widow Von'Du vs. Jan, April Carrion vs. Vivacious) and songs queens obviously have no chance beating someone who looks like the artist (TKB vs. Milk, Coco Montrese vs. Jade Jolie, Jaidynn Diore Fierce vs MAX). it always happens on drag race where black girls are in this position by the production and fans. It happened with Bob, people were saying that she didn’t deserve the crown (the top three was diverse tho) and Monet is the exact and clear example, because she did constantly good in the competition as well as Trinity and she did deserved to win based on that lipsync, but she suffered from a lot of racism and accusations that she won only because she’s black. Same with Jaida, that Gigi did better than her which, is a lie. both of them did good but Jaida won by far, as well as Symone, and now this. It gets so tiring that Drag Race fans can’t comprehend that it’s a reality tv show and they deserve their spot because they are talented. Angeria deserved more wins, she was robbed from one that was given to Bosco. It happens with latin-american queens, asian queens (they are the less represented group on the show and it upsets me so much how Rock M Sakura was mistreated. Asian queens are set up to fail always) and by far, black queens are always seem as less deserving for that crown UNLESS it fits their own perceptions of how a black queen should act.

Rock is so incredibly talented and they made it seem like they were basically chomping at the bit to get her out the door and out of the competition when other white queens have slacked a shitload or given subpar performances and given multiple chances. its just insane to watch how some of the white queens are coddled not only by the production but the fanbase as well. the qoc who have made it to top 5, finale, won etc all deserved it and deserve their praise, however it just feels cheap if production did it to seem "woke" as they have been accused of a lot. willam definitely said it more like "oh they picked her bc shes black" but i hope thats not true even though i dont trust shady WoW. it would be in my opinion even worse to ignore the possibility that production chose them as diversity tokens (hopefully they did not but they have been proven racist many times) because they deserve to be applauded and recognized for their ACTUAL talent, not us just clapping for their talent knowing the team was just exploiting them for views and content. i think some people in these comments section think tokenism on behalf of production is just fine so long as they the audience are applauding the talent. imo that makes them complicit in the covert racism.

I know what Willam’s intentions were, and her saying that her race was more or less solidifying her spot because she was already talented enough to be there made perfect sense to me. Because I get exactly what she was saying from a producer and television standpoint. It makes complete sense. Was Angeria always talented enough to be where she was in the competition 100%. But is racism a thing and are African-American performers constantly minimized and looked over in favor of white people who may or may not be as talented or better, especially in the history of drag race… also 100% So I think Willam acknowledging the need for diversity and the executives wanting to check a box it’s her way of saying the right thing is being done even though there’s a shitty ass reason that plays into the right thing being done. But as she said, if you don’t give full context to what you’re actually saying, the interpretation can override the intention very quickly!

It’s okay to educate yourself on micro aggressions and macro aggressions and also educate yourself to detect whenever there are racial biases against POC but to educate yourself and voice your opinions on said things you’re still educating yourself on when your opinions don’t change the fact that these things are happening in the grand scheme of things is when it gets a bit muddy.

Micro aggressions, unconscious bias, hidden remains of my ignorance sometimes show that they still in my system and the only way to kill ignorance is learning by sharing experiences without fear . We have to talk about race without been ready to shoot whoever mentions a color !! That’s hypocritical !…Thank you for owning what I know WAS NOT a malicious comment. I have been growing indifferent to whatever the gay community does because it always seems they are focused on empty topics, sex and cattiness but it is so inspiring to see vulnerability and depth in someone I’m used to see in a different mood that I’m almost in tears. All I Can say about the winners and Tops 3/4: 1) Bebe didnt deserve to win, Nina should. And Shannel and Ongina were robbed for the top 3/4 spot. 2) Tyra/James was the real winner. No Raven, no Jujubee, Tyra. Deal with It. 3) Raja was the perfect winner in my eyes and Manila and Alexis in the top 3 were better choice. 4) Sharon killed the competition. Deal with It. And we all know Willam was a great choice but Chad and Phiphi/Jaremy were great too. 5) No coments because It was the Monsoon’ Season. And also Alaska and Roxxy were great. 6) No comments too. My perfect top 3 Of the OG seasons 7) I’m in peace with Violet winning but Ginger was a great second option. Sorry, Pearl but no. Katya or Kennedy were better 8) Bob as the winner makes sense. Kim Chi and Naomi in the top 3… nop. Chichi and Thorgy were better options 9) Perfect Top 4 for recent seasons. And Sasha won fair over Shea (with the LSFTC twist). 10) I’m ok with Aquaria winnig but, at the same time, I prefer Eureka (yes, Eureka) as the winner. Asia and Miz Cracker or even Monique were better options for the top 4. Sorry Kameron. 11) Ivye Of course. No comments with that. Broke and Akeria were great. But Silky? Really? 12) I guess Jada was a better option over Gigi. And I dont get Why the producers never put Crystal AND Jackie in the Top 4 after what we know 🙃 I was expecting something like AS4 in the finale episode. 13) This is my last Drag Race season and It was BS. But I guess Symone was great. I prefer Rosé over her to be honest. And for AS: 1) Chad or Shannel. Raven never 😌 2) Even though I hated her that time, yeah, I’m in peace with Alaska winning. 3)…………….. SHANGELA. WTF production? 4)…………….. Trinity ONLY. WTF production x2? 5) Like, c’mon. This was Jujubee’ season. Not Shea. Even Alexis and Cracker were better than Shea (and I love her but no, AS5 was wrong) 6) I have weird feelings about this because, for me, I’m cool with Sonique’s winning. But At the same time, I prefer Rajah.

Mine were 1. Nina definitely should have won 2. James won that shit the moment he came up off his knees with that bouquet and stunning dress. 3. Alexis because she won just as much as Raja and Manila and at the time I wanted someone to beat out the "bullies" of the season. 4. Sharon because being my scene/emo self I wanted her to win. 5. Jinkx same as with Alexis. I wanted her to win to prove to the others to not count her out. 6. Bianca knew she was gonna win as soon as she came into the Werkroom 7. Violet because something just told me she was gonna win. 8. Bob because why not? No one else compares. 9. Sasha because I love the "weirdness" 10. Aquaria same as Violet, just knew she was gonna win. 11. Yvie because I love odd queens. 12. As soon as the runway meet the queens hit and Jaida came around that corner in that Black Panther suit, I called her my and THE winner. 100% knew she was gonna win. 13. I did want Symone, but I was living for Tamisha and still am. 14. I was HEAVILY rooting for Angeria. If she didn't win, I wanted Kornbread. I've just enjoyed watching Kornbread over the last few years. 1. I was for Chad because Raven is and always was hateful. 2. I was for Alaska because she was my 2nd choice for season 5 3. BenDaLaCreme because I know she had WAY more to offer than what was seen on season 6. I was upset she got eliminated instead of Darienne. 4. Manila was my number 1 from the jump, either her or Monet. 5. Jujubee because damn it was about time. 6. 100% was rooting for Kylie to win and I'm so glad she did. Rajah was my second pick right before TKB

Willam hit the nail on the head when she said, Is it wrong to say race is a factor? Because it is! I think one of the biggest issues in this situation is that Willam is White talking about this situation and acknowledging a black woman’s placement in a competition. Even if she was saying the right thing and was 100% correct sometimes the messenger is carrying the right message but if the wrong person to deliver it. But I stand behind everything that Willam said because trust me as a black person, we said the exact same thing that, and trust me, there have been discussions about it, where Black people have said the exact same thing. Trust my word on this as a black drag performer. Nobody would’ve had an issue with what that black person said in fact, they would’ve been praised for calling attention to diversity issues in the RuPaul‘s drag race fandom! They would’ve been praised, and Willam got demonized for saying the exact same thing that a black person would be praised for saying because it’s right! Is it problematic. Yes but it’s also true! And Willam isn’t problematic for saying. The system is problematic for giving us throw issue to talk about at all!!! But as she said, if you don’t give full context to what you’re actually saying, the interpretation can override the intention very quickly!

im glad willam apologized bc the way she said it was not good imo but i think what she should try saying instead is just the general concept of how many things Ru/ WoW has done to appear "woke" when behind the scenes they are not, regardless of the queen's talent level, because WoW does only one thing to them equally: exploit them by whatever label or perception they can. they dont actually always care about diversity and inclusion, from BTS tea it seems almost never. they care about not getting a shit storm again like the one they deserved when ru went on his transphobia train. and being able to continue to make money off content. the queens of color absolutely deserve their places they've landed in finales or winners due to their talent, but it would not surprise me if production did think about them the way willam is saying they would. especially at WoW. i just think willam needs to find a slightly better way to express that those arent his views on other people but that he thinks the production may do that to queens, which no one deserves. it was insensitive phrasing but i get where he's coming from. WoW/Ru have been fake woke for a long time and you can't tell me BTS or when theres no one watching that Ru and production probably still continue to think, speak, and act on various forms of bigotry and prejudice including but not limited to racism, ableism, transphobia, fatphobia, etc. and put on a mask so they can keep making money.

I think the folx to ask about this topic are QTBIPOC, as they are the ones who this impacts the most. It’s their lived experience. They’re why we have drag race in the first place bc of their creation of ballroom culture. Race is and will always be a factor and not by choice, unless we’re able to dismantle white supremacy. I get what Willam is trying to say, all the girls speaking in this clip actually, but I appreciate her admitting she’s not fully in the know of how systems of oppression are at play and/or how to explain them, as she’s still learning. The best thing to do in these situations is give a platform and listen to QTBIPOC. Although I’m a queer person of color, there’s things I’m still learning and have learned best because I listened to other queer folx of color.

At the end of the day there is rigging going on that can make some queens look better than others (track records, edits etc.) Because it’s very difficult to judge which queen is better, the vast majority of them are extremely talented performers. Unfortunately we live in a world where people judge based off face value, in a fair world you could have all queens of one race in the finale based on performance but it still can appear racist (sometimes it genuinely is, but I’m stating in a case where it isn’t). 10 queens may be talented but they’re going to pick 3/4/5 that are different from each other and maybe mild the story more in their favour. The show can appear as diverse this way and appear less problematic.

But at the end of the day you should be casting who is the most talented and has the best chance to win the show. As well as who is in the top 4 at the end. It should be played out fairly instead of manipulated but we all know how politics work. The producers obviously want to portray a certain storyline.
