Just for tourists, if you go to Colorado and want to see the mountains, make sure to drink lots and lots of water. Also, it’s not a good idea to head up the mountain on your first day if you’re from a lower altitude

I drove to the top of Pikes Peak in May. It was only 26 degrees at the top and still lots of snow and ice about but really beautiful. I really loved Colorado. But as an Aussie, trust me, the traffic in Denver is nothing compared to my hometown, Sydney. Rush hour in Sydney lasts 24/7. It just never stops and Sydney drivers are so aggressive compared to Denver drivers who were incredibly polite. Driving in Colorado was a pleasure. Can’t wait to go back.

Please use our road Customs while you were here. It is important to use your blinker in the Denver metro area! We have a lot of cyclists whose lives depend on motorist using their blinkers, and being aware of others sharing the roads and walkways. I moved to the Springs 2 months ago and the altitude and dry air KICKED MY ASS. I've been visiting CO at least once a year since I was a child, so I thought I'd be used to it but NOPE. It took a couple weeks to get used to the altitude and I had to adjust my entire skincare regime, but this place is amazing! I love it! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Will Edmond the hell it's not, we now have the second worst traffic in the U.S. topped only by Boston. Rush hour goes from 5am til around 730 pm even then it merely eases. Housing prices have tripled. And none of you people bothered to learn winter driving skills and consistently have the highways shut down due to your ineptitude. So just stay wherever you are or Washington is nice.

Will Edmond not even close. I spend 12 hrs a day on these roads. What takes 15 min at 5am takes at least an hr at anytime after 2pm. Used to take an hr and 15 min to get from Denver to ft Collins, now takes 2+ to get there and 2.5 to 3 hrs to get back and that's straight highway. Even 85 is screwed now and transplants didn't know about that road

From 70 and monaco to 25 and harmony takes around 2 hrs sometimes more when the non winter driving out of towners shut down the highway

Will if your ever in Colorado springs again check out some of the cool parks like ute valley park red rock canyon open space and palmer park their all pretty big parks you can hike in right in the city pull pit rock off Nevada avenue is pretty cool it's a giant rock spire basically like 1,000 or 500 feet high. The views are cool from the top of pull pit rock. I don't remember the name of the road pull pit rock is on exactly but you can get there off Nevada avenue you can get to ute valley park going down vindicator Blvd and centennial be careful going down centennial the grade is 9 percent and kind of steep. There are other ways to get to these parks as well. Red rock canyon open space you can get there via 31st street the parking lot is just past Rudy's bbq and gift store or the main parking lot down highway 24 west. Palmer park you can access via Austin bluffs via garden of the gods park way which turns into Austin bluffs park way as soon as you cross Nevada avenue there are other ways to get to palmer park as well as the other parks I mentioned. Just use mapquest or Google maps to get there to be safe Google maps might be better. You should check out garden of the gods if you haven't already it's really cool. You can get to garden of the gods down 30th street. Cave of the winds is pretty cool that's manitou springs like pikes peak the cave dwellings in manitou are pretty awesome old settlements built into stone it's cool. You should check out rock ledge ranch as well down 31st street I'm pretty sure the name is rock ledge ranch. It's a cool park. Just so you know all those parks I mentioned are free admission to get into except cave of the winds I'm not sure how much it is to get into cave of the winds. The cave dwellings I'm not sure if it costs to get in there or not I think it does it's been so long since I've been there I wouldn't remember. I don't know if you live in Denver now or are just visiting or live in colorado springs or not but those are just some things to check out I could go on and on there is tons to see in colorado. I'd suggest Idaho montana Oregon Washington or anywhere in the Pacific northwest or inland northwest I could go on for hours about Idaho and montana if you want open spaces and tons of national forest montana and Idaho for sure colorado has a lot as well.
