I think people tend to forget that Scorpio is a fixed sign yes, but the fixed sign of transformation. Which imo means that our stubbornness comes into play when anything or anyone dare interfere with our personal growth, movement, freedom, progress, independence, and the expansion of our horizons. Also, I don't know about most Scorps but I certainly differentiate between emotion and sensitivity vs sentimentality and find it difficult to see the latter as valid at all in most cases.

I'm a Scorpio Sun, Aquarius Moon and I've struggled very much with feeling like I am drowning in emotion some days, but then I feel completely vacant of emotion on others. It can be lonely not knowing how to handle your own emotions, when everyone else seems so sure of who they are.

I don't know man. If you flipped most of what you're saying it would basically describe my relationship with the only Aqua sun I know. Though I do care about this person in the broader sense, this Aquarius sun is one of the most rigid, controlling, short sighted, and sentimental ppl I've ever met. Honestly the way you've described Aquarius reminds me more of me (that snaking out of the hug move was right on). I've zero ability to handle the smothering of clingy-ness or sentimentality. When people reach out at me that way it's like they're encroaching on my personal boundaries, and attempting to make my world as small as their comfort level demands, and I just want to run screaming. Yet that stifling prison seems to represent love for this Aqua person. I've even got Aquarius rising and we have just about nothing in common (which tbh I'm completely fine with). Sorry to seem "negative" or whatever but maybe scorps get slapped with that label due to all the misunderstanding we're confronted with.
