Es una hermosura este tema. No puedo parar de escucharlo. Tiene más de 300 años pero parece que lo hicieron hace 30 o 40. Por momentos me arranca lágrima. Tal vez se refiera a un amor perdido. O un amor reencontrado...

I heard you play at a clavichord day at the RCM.. The depth of your playing impressed me and somehow one could tell you were a harpsichordist :-) I am glad that the youtube algorithm has suggested to me your beautiful interpretation of this Ground.

Lovely! I've heard this ground attributed to Henry Purcell on old recordings.

From my research it looks like it’s because Purcell wrote nearly an identical piece in E Minor. I don’t know who was influenced by whom (which transposed to a different key ;) ) See also Lachrimae Pavan for a similar “influential” piece, ie, John Bull had a transcribed version that influenced Sweelinck that in turn influenced Buxtehude. You can hear the original melody in all but they are for different keyboards, or strings, in different keys. Much more common back in the day.
