I can't stop watching Buckley. I am apolitical but there is something therapeutic to me, at the current time in my life, about Buckley's articulation and presence.

Buckley's erudition and patience in this interview come strikingly to the fore, especially in contrast to the impudence , the immaturity, and the irrationality of the interviewer.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the young interviewer is now Chairman of the Political Science Departmental at some junior college in Britain (formerly Great Britain).

Do you remember when conservatives could articulate their points of view? Neither do I.

I'm a Conservative, and I can articulate a point. We have to conserve the forests because, as of yet, humans have not discovered a better way of processing the air as trees do. And they look pretty, cool, and birds sit on them a lot. See, this is very articulate, you've been hosted on your own Picard.

This is easy to date. LBJ was still running for reelection and hadn't dropped out of the race and RFK had not yet entered the race, MLK was still alive (Buckley refers to plans King had made public for staging a march for the coming Spring), and the Beatles had released Magical Mystery Tour. This is therefore datable with a high degree of certainty as having taken place between Christmas 1967 at the earliest and March 1968 at the latest.
