Alot of info to absorb but quite-fascinating. I love Dickens but am very-interested in Thackeray now as well. On his 2nd-tour of the U.S., Thackeray visited my hometown of Augusta, Ga. For many years, a state historical-marker stood at the site of his 2-day set of lectures, a building on the main downtown-street. I believe he was invited by the local library-association. A few years ago, the historical-marker was removed as it was deemed politically-incorrect. A quotation was excerpted from a letter Thackeray sent back-home to England, commenting as to how contented the slaves appeared-to-be, an institution that was in no-way onerous. I've been trying to gather more details on Thackeray's Augusta-visit, i.e., where he stayed overnight, how he arrived(stagecoach, train, steamboat, etc.). I think he came here after lecturing in Savannah. Thanks again for a great video!
