What a ridiculously adventurous and rich life. It's inspiring. So many occupation and skills picked up along the way.

A harsh life journey. Finally softened by Iman. SubhanAllah. For some this maybe a long lecture. But Shaykh telling the life story of this amazing gentleman is best listened to in the garden while tinkering with the soil and plant. Everything fits. MashaaAllah. The soothing narrative. The adventure. The escapades. This is Islam as practised by the non-anxious free spiririted people not afraid of discomfort or death. Indeed. There's more than one way of being an inspirational Muslim. This is a wonderful series. SubhanAllah. Jazakumullah Khairan Kathiran.

17:45 I believe the Shaykh was thinking of the Marine Corps Hymn, which talks about the Battle of Tripoli "From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli." The Star-Spangled Banner and its rockets red glare were written about the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812

Don’t say that akhi, it may sound nice and free but remember majority of the people in the world was living in extreme hardship. I’m a black man born and grew up in Britain I certainly don’t want to live a century ago in the west let alone in my country of origin in Africa. Just thank Allah you are living in this time period because in some ways it’s a blessing from Allah. Just like previous generations are thanking Allah that their time period is a little easier then the previous generations etc etc

What if instead of reaction to anxieties, we can focus on mythology as being beyond conflicts? Marriage or even dating has long been one of the chief causes of conversion. Going beyond rebellion without a cause to contemplation and a more actualized spiritual freedom is something more in the West can identify. William Williamson being subject to unfounded suspicion has much to be said for modern converts too, but now it would seem that more of the suspicions are from those raised as Muslim; particularly conservatives who don't know how grounded their opinions are in Islam itself.
