Kudera said a long time ago that literature should ask questions, not answering ones. You inspire me to think about the Poe's horror short stories again. And I love them the most. How powerful the imagination he had.

I think the doppelganger is his inner self. He likes himself at first, as do we all, until he sees more of the "bad", despite the narrator being the one that seems more problematic. In the end, it doesn't look like him because he realizes that what he really is is totally different to what he shows to everyone. It feels like, aside from not being able to cope, he sort of blames his "other self" instead of dealing with all of his problems. Some sort of escapism (can't properly put it into words, but I hope it gets my point across) Also, I like the Whisper theory.

Just read this story today and found your video dissecting it. Did anyone else notice William Wilson’s birthday is the same as Poes? To me that says Wilson is in fact Poe as he tries to fight his inner demons. Why else would Poe pick January 19 for the main character’s birthday?
