Hey.! That was cool... I also made a bridge in my freshman year. However the bridge we build here are smaller in size and we test them by heavy weights . And the rule is that every bridge must be a suspension bridge. Well... by the way its a competition that held every year in my collage :)

@grogdizzy not really efficient coz you'll need a lot of materials there more than the other bridge designs

3:15 .. i'd say given the amount of material that was used, they had the best design in terms of being able to support the three of em

The first one has a critical mistake in its design- there are primary members that won't be activated because there is no rotational restraint at the end supports. The second one is a good minimal design that addresses the main forces. The third one is a straightforward design but would not be as efficient as the second. The fourth one addresses the forces well and appears to be very stiff. The fifth one again makes a mistake by trying to use end rotational restraint that isn't there. The sixth one is a basic truss and will work well if they have executed the joint connections well. It's also going to be very stiff. The last one has a critical design error by not bracing 2 of the truss panels, when they load it you can see excessive local deflection across these 2 panels. Overall though it looks like a lot of fun.

The weak link was the thin board. The solution is to distribute its brittle surface across as many contact points as possible. That means a latticework. The trestle bridge came close.
