Even if you assume someone with those skills is making 100k+ a year there was about 5 people on the design creation, at rough math thats about $30k. Even if you assume higher, say $50k for the labor, and William said the 1 set of boards was 20k, and the other company probably charged similarly. Still rough math but maybe under $100k for everything? So half the price to a third to do it themself. They are smart people though and know what they are doing. I mean he mentioned in the video about needing something that anyone could handle. That original squid would have taken so much work to setup for that many people.

considering that was just the first game. And how he also needed to have a set, uniforms, cameras, custom props and editing for the whole thing - it was pretty reasonable of him to delegate the sub-projects to other people and give them a portion of the budget to use. @@SheIITear Because pulling this off in 3 weeks is ridiculously unrealistic (also he should have just done his original idea and used a regulator instead of piercing the cans instead of pretending that designing, working out the kinks, and then assembling a custom board in under 3 weeks was going to happen). I know it's hard to know how much of a mess it really was because he's exaggerating for content, but this video also paints a picture of somebody who really, really, really shouldn't have been put in charge of this. Expecting a supplier to do anything that isn't putting parts in a box and shipping it to be done in under a month is just a mistake. At work I've spent a hell of a lot more than $20k just for it to take 3 weeks to actually talk to a human when things go wrong. It's just life when you're not a Walmart. You're their 200th priority.
