INDIA: An Urban Walk In Chennai, Plus "No Filming In The Metro!"

313 | Walking in Chennai, so far, has not been easy. Sidewalks that go anywhere without holes or gaps, or that aren't blocked by construction materials, parked cars or motorcycles, just don't exist. Most people walk in the road, which is its own problem. Traffic is congested, noisey, and constant. There are very few 'breaks' that allow one to cross the road. Traffic controls exist in some places but they are not everywhere.

Its because of security, and terrorism . unfortunately since the Mumbai attacks they are more strict on this as it can be seen as recon. Unfortunately they dont understand that evil people will do recon anyway secretly. Hope you have a great time, and visit places like Pondicherry it has a great French architecture

I don't know about Chennai but in Delhi some Metro stations have machine gun nests.
