From the other side of our rock, one fact that you guys haven’t brought into this conversation is that, in most sport globally, internationals are played with a with a tactic and mindset of ‘don’t loose’ rather than ‘have to win’. Hence, boring football and teams being over defensive. That’s what works. Us footy nerds are mainly fed on a diet of club football. The football that’s played in a more offensive way, because that what works.

Tuchel??? The day England get Tuchel they're finished. Bruv, he's a shit coach, may as well have kept Southgate. Eddie Howe, Lee Carsley or Michael Carrick. Tuchel or Potter would be a death sentence. When teams go for proven winners it never works out. Look at Luis Enrique, knocked out to Morocco at the World cup, 18 months later and the u21 coach already has 2 trophies. Pep Guardiola would probably get grouped in international football, he would never win a trophy. Lee Carsley works because he plays good football at international level which is hard to do and his style suits these players. He knows the players because most have worked with him before.

People forget there was a stipulation when the consortium bought Chelsea, Roman put in place a clause that new owners would have to invest £1.75 billion back into the club. So Im not surprised they are doing this now rather than doing it over the long term due to a changing and unpredictable financial market. I called this from when they first took over, I just knew they would splash the money anyway they could.
