But I thought the reciprocal course was 220° So why is it rudder mid ship at 240° ?

Reciprocal course add 180 to your present course... 45+180=225 (reciprocal) 20 deg. Before you reach it put the rudder to midship so that you will not overshot your course 245 slowly return the rudder to midship
