Massey Ferguson Hesston 1838 First Look and Walk Around

We finally got it, our new hay baler! It is a Massey Ferguson Hesston 1838 in-line small square baler.
This baler should last us a long time as our hay production is only about 2000 bales per year or less, so follow along and let’s take a look at this awesome new machine.

I am going Monday to close the deal on a 1838 Baler. I’m trading my worn out 4570 Hesston in on it. The Hesston 4570 is mostly the same Baler as the 1838 but I’m hoping it will be faster with the improvements they have made over the years.

Not sure what the specs are on the 4570 but I’m very happy with the 1838.

Great looking Machine! Hesston is hard to beat on hay balers. Definitely keep it dry, I try to never let my balers get wet. I have a new hay tool as well, the video should be out soon on it. I wish you the best of luck! I have hay ready to cut but the weather won’t let me.

Yeah it’s under the shed for now but when we fill it with hay we will just have to keep it covered for a while until we get another shed built, I’ll be watching for the video.

I really like how you talk about the research you do and the fact that you never say this is how you do this the right way. It shows that you understand that different people will have different ways of doing the same things and that there is no one way that is the only correct way to do whatever you might be talking about. Only good square baler is a new square baler. Smart move I’ve personally wasted weeks of my time fixing old machines.
