I was at the ballpark in the city when Monte Irvin’s number was retired . Willie was there. Monte was Willie’s roommate when he was a rookie.

@@TheBatugan77 Giants we’re playing the Red Sox. I was seated in row 1 by the gate that opens for vehicles to come onto the field. Willie was in one vintage convertible and Monte in another. They went by about 12 feet away.

Willie missed that neighborhood in nyc when no one in San Francisco wanted to live next to him giants should have stayed in ny and sent the Mets to San Fran literally willie even came back to finish with the Mets I wonder why the players liked ny better

The Mets didn't exist when the Giants moved to SF in 1958.
