Thanks for the tribute Kurt. Growing up in Boston, I only saw Mays play once, in the 1961 All-Star game. Mays went 1 for 3. I was 13, and remember staring out to CF and thinking to myself "That's Willie Mays!!" Greatest all-around player of them all (IMHO). RIP.

Mays 1 of 4 players of the 20-20-20-20 club. 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 homers, 20 stolen bases. It was the 1957 season.

I was at the 1954 tribute game at Cleveland Stadium in 1974.......Willie hit a homerun and got a standing ovation

Thanks Kurt. Got to see Willie in person when I was a kid (12 years old) on Saturday, May 20, 1967 in Houston's Astrodome. Marichal and Mays were two of my favorite players and both played. Willie got 2 hits, Marichal picked up the win!

What a game. APBA is my first love and still my go to game at 56. The cards were awesome. I thought Mays was hitting a grandy in the 8th!! Always enjoy your games. Take care

When a true hero passes, a small part of us all withers into the past. In the case of the "Say Hey Kid", this man's accomplishments, which, as you stated eloquently in the video, should never be overlooked or forgotten. Willie's situation as a player is unique being he was not only adored within the ranks of New York's National League fanbase but to Giant fans in San Francisco. Milwaukee fans can relate being a similar situation of team relocation was present in the career of Henry Aaron being a representative of both the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves. Perhaps players such as the Philadelphia-Kansas City Athletics Gus Zernial and Bobby Shantz can draw a comparison as far as great players being subject to team relocation during their prime years, the other obvious player would be the Brooklyn-Los Angeles Dodgers Duke Snider whom in the opinion of legendary writer Roger Kahn was not only the "Duke of Flatbush" but the " Duke of Fallbrook" upon the O'Malley land grab in Hollywood. Thank you for sharing these sessions on video, your shared love of our great game is appreciated.

Say Hey has always been my favorite player. To me he was a great ball player and maybe a greater human being. Thanks for doing this Kurt, I am sure it would have made Willie proud. Especially with the game he had !!

Thanks for the game. Mays was a huge part of baseball's greatest era to me the sixties. The sixties may have had a ton of bad issues but for a kid baseball was a great memory for me a naive kid.

I never saw him live, but in my opinion - the greatest baseball player ever
