Here is late Country Boy (Willie Neal Johnson) at his best. The Keynotes came on right after The Canton Spirituals on the 1989 Blockbuster Concert card. The Tyler boys opened with the shoutin' number "Jesus Is On The Mainline". They sing this for well over 10 minutes!!

Man they had some church in there! I just love gospel music. Quartets are my favorite. I was raised up listening to them as a kid. I love the gospel keynotes. My mother had all of their 8 track tapes along with the Pilgrim Jubilees and Mighty Clouds Of Joy. I was born and raised in Florida. Now I live in TX. I finally had the chance to see Willie and the gospel keynotes just before he past away. It was something else.

They were the gold standard in Gospel music. They were even more dangerous with Paul Beasley. Robert, and Charles were tough too. Growing up with them along with the Jackson Southernaires, Pilgrim Jubilees, Canton Spirituals, and ofcourse the Mighty Clouds of Joy was a Sunday tradition.

I have seen one other guitarist do that stage thing other than the keynotes .That wasCurtis Foster and he was playing for the blind boys of Ala.and Clarence was cutting up and Curtis and that guitar was an attraction on stage.
