you want your mind blown...google leon and see his unmatched resume. He composed and played on like 60 albums that are classics, not including his own. He was in like twenty bands starting with Paul Revere and the Raiders to the Rolling Stones. Produced Clapton, Charles, Elton, Willie, all the way to Buble', . It is almost inconceivable how many true classics have his fingerprints. I always knew he was special, but until I saw this list I had no clue.

I had been a fan for about two years when this was taped. This is just remarkable!! I have seen Willie now 34 times in concert. We have been to 1 Farm Aid, 1 July 4th picnic. I have been on stage with Willie 1 time in Louisville Ky. Getting ready to see him and Merle in New Braunfels Texas real soon.. Seen Leon at Head Liner's in Louisville Ky. for the 4th time just a few months ago. It is a very small venue and was really an intimate concert. We are very blessed to have enjoyed their music for many years now.. GOD BLESS them!!

Matt Smith AWESOME!!! Hope you had a ball! I guess I've seen him live 15-20 times, going back to 1972. Three 4th of July picnics, '73 - '75, 'Austin City Limits', plus a lot of smaller Austin outdoor gigs, including political fund-raisers. A bunch of other great concerts! My daughter says that growing up in our house, Willie was a god - she is right! Nothing beat standing in spilled beer, singing along and feeling so fortunate to be there!

Willie is one of those rare guys that is better live. His live has changed too although he generally runs through the same medley and transitions in same order often. Like riding bike. Hadn't seen him as much as you maybe but when I have for some reason it feels like he is singing directly to me. Drugging live this dude. It also reminds me of the Texas I knew 70s 80s 90s. Vastly underrated video here in the back listings of youtube. It's a bloody Mary morning my friend I'm flying down to houston There is Willie and everything else.

What an incredible musician who seemingly played with every notable musician going back 50+ years. He was known by all of us in Tulsa. I'll drive by his Utica Square mansion today to see flowers and tributes set up there ... as a local resident we were fortunate and familiar with opportunities to see him play our venues! A legend to be remembered for his music and the company that sought him - many now whom will have his company in heaven- RIP ... friends list will and should be endless & bless Elton John, J J Cale, Dwight Twilly for their & +++ others personal loss of their admired friend. Especially the Tulsa group / band including Eric Clapton ++ local pals & even the late George Harrison whom came to play! WOW...! Leon Russell's driveway tributes (Tulsa, Okla.); 11/13/2016

I lived fifteen minutes from the Capitol Theater . This is one of the many concerts I was lucky enough to see there. Picture this... 16 years old and lying to the parents to sneak to concerts there. You see this part of Passaic was not a part of town that middle class white kids ventured to at 16. But the draw of the music played there was like heroin to a junkie. I saw Jethro Tull there and the band went off stage without playing aqualung and locomotive breath, in the front two rows was a mc club that proceeded to rip the backs off seats and threw them at the stage. It was almost a riot until the band came back out and played a 40 minute encore including , of coarse, both tunes. This is just one of the priceless memories of over 115 live shows I had the pleasure of attending. Most when live shows were at there best, no set play lists, you could go see a band three nites in a row and see three different shows. Today so many concerts are scripted to the point that it no longer feels like a shared experience between the band and the crowd.

Thanks for putting this up! "Willie & Family Live" from '79 has always been one of my favorite live recordings by anyone, and this is as good. Sister Bobbie is, of course, one of the core elements of Willie's sountrack that plays through so many minds, but this gig with Leon Russell has Willie in the classic, hard driving, rock-country, don't get too far out in space mode with the vocal intensity that fueled his rise in popularity in Austin ( see comment above and check out the version of Bloody Mary Morning mentioned). This is a whole show of songs, each interpreted with Willie acknowledging Russel's rhythm and, beyond that, his resume. This is the Willie that hooked me and there's not enough of it out there and not enough recognition in the world of rock and roll for Willie's ability. He should be in the Rock HOF. They're missing it because of Willie's versatility and acoustic nature, which has created it's own brand of American music. If he'd have been ripping up an electric all these years (check out Willie with Band of Horses), I think he'd be in there. He's not that far behind Dylan in songwriting clout.

I'm so happy for Facebook and Google and You Tube for making all these oldies available for all of us. This was the year, 1969, of my spiritual transformation from a hard core atheist to one who had found GOD at the end of the trail in my search for the Absolute of Truth as a scientist. I thought that fact and truth were the same thing in those days. And the last thing in the world I was expecting to discover was GOD! Anyhow, Einstein had said that the Unified Field Equation, if ever derived, would explain the existence of everything everywhere to everyone forevermore. In February, 1969, I found myself facing the absolute truth of the fact that there IS a GOD, and everything in infinity became understandable! GOD was the missing link in my chain of understanding how things had become the way they are, even the Absolute of Will and the Source of our Personality of self-consciousness and the Liberty of free will choice! So 1 = ∞ is the Unified Field of Infinity Equation, symbolizing the Absolute of Absolutes, the only Uncaused Cause in Infinity-the infinite will of the Infinite One who is the First Person of Deity, the Universal Father of all personalities. He is the Infinite; He is also infinity- 1 = ∞ - which also symbolizes one quantum unit of the prepersonal will of God, a sort of "God Gene", known as a THOUGHT ADJUSTER! It is the Father of your soul as a son or daughter of God! Brothers and sisters: the kingdom of God is at hand, meaning a return to the high spiritual concept of Jesus, who proclaimed that the kingdom is the will of his heavenly Father, dominant and transcendent in the heart of the believer! That which the world needs most to know is: Men are the sons of God, and through faith they can actually realize, and daily experience, this ennobling truth! To be great is to be Godlike, so when it comes to making America great again, we must remember: Greatness is synonymous with divinity. God is supremely great and good. "Greatness and goodness simply cannot be divorced." They are forever made one in God. The estimate of greatness varies from sphere to sphere. To be great is to be Godlike, so I pray for the spiritual transformation of present-day humanity! The Unified Field Equation- 1 = ∞ - symbolizes the will of God within ones mind and soul. It is actually the Father of your soul. So if you want to survive this mortal experience and live forever, let it be made perfectly clear: "All souls of every possible phase of mortal existence will survive provided they manifest willingness to co-operate with the indwelling will of God and exhibit a desire to find God and to attain divine perfection, even though these desires be but the first faint flickers of the primitive comprehension of that "true light which lights every man who comes into the world.”
