Great, quirky tune and wonderful to have your voice by itself...so bardic. Timeless!

Hi lovely to find your channel! May I ask, how did you arrive at this particular set of lyrics? Quite different from Martin Carthy's in spots and from the Child Book itself. Your tune for it is very kindred to Martin's, and is incredibly beautiful.

If there could be such a thing , which would shine a definitive light on giving a personality to the magical culture of Britain , this would perhaps rank high in an artistical endeavor to do so , or so I thought . They command a bit of respect don't they , witches do.

@@AnnaTam I heard a song that was written by Anne Briggs and I thought of you . it was also covered very lovely by the folk group Pentangle. It would be great to hear a cover version of it by you my friend .

Lovely song, sweet singing .. so what is the origin of the song?

Thank you Feter. That's a great question, it just seems to be a story that has travelled around. I expect it came to Scotland from Scandinavia and also that it was around during the Viking era but I haven't found evidence for that yet!
