Exactly. That’s how I got here too. The Cohen Bros (geniuses) gave us that polished final scene in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and the duet wit Tim Blake Nelson (actor, singing) was dubbed perfectly with the cowboy in the black suit. Right on!
@jordanhedington24216 жыл бұрын
Man, the Coens can do no wrong. This man is an exceptional singer and guitar player +harp and whatever else, and keeping folk and the blues alive, just as amazing as it’s ever been. I’ve been listening to Willie non stop lately
@lanceuppercut20135 жыл бұрын
Jordan Hedington who are the Coens? Sorry Im not hip.
@jordanhedington24215 жыл бұрын
@lance uppercut - well friend, the Coen brothers are a pair of filmmakers, brilliant ones, known for movies like Fargo, no country for old men, and most recently, the ballad of buster scruggs, a movie they did for Netflix. Willie was cast as an old western gunslinger “the kid”. You should definitely check out their work! They also have great taste in music evidently
@lanceuppercut20135 жыл бұрын
Jordan Hedington ah! I am most certainly acquainted with those Coens! I didnt realize Willie Watson was associated with one of their films.. I will def research further! Thank you!

As badly as i hate to say it. OCMS has kimd of became a little mainstream poppy sounding. Granted they're still great, but.more country/bluegrass sounding than folky/bluegrass like when Willie was there. He played a show in my town in this little venue. The tickets sold out in 40 minutes. It was nuts. He hasnt been back since 😢 Willie is my absolute favorite. I'm so glad we have him carrying the traditional folk music forward.
@bbigd04 жыл бұрын
I saw him 1st with Old Crow. Have no idea why he left them but they are the poorer for his being gone. Glad to see he is doing better than ever. He has always had great energy & and a fine Git-picker as well.

Interesting. The only version of Samson and Delilah that I was familiar with until listening to this one, was by the Grateful Dead...you mention Marty Robbins, who the Grateful Dead also covered with the song, "El Paso"....a song that they played many, MANY time live! I love this version though...it's similar to the Dead's but it's equally amazing! It could sort of benefit from a Jerry Garcia solo (but then really, what song wouldn't?).

Willie change your name to Wylie, Wylie Watson. Here's a secret for ya Mr. Wylie Watson what gave Sampson his great strength was his prayer, long hair equals prayer. Jesus was a long hair too. We ain't talking muscle Sampson killed the Kings men with the jawbone of an ass. Just a simple man armed with the truth. Mr. Wylie Watson

I don't know, maybe if you strained to hit the high notes a little louder it would sound more earnest. The Buster Scruggs song brought me here. Had to wait for the last song to find what I came for but it was worth it.
