Really love your Chanel in my English gipsy culture we married at 17 16 18 years old the men would work. But now the woman work but many romany family’s in uk 🇬🇧 still go by some of the old ways woman look after children and stay home. But it is well known that Ugandan woman love money remember in the bible it says the love of money is the root of all evil ? Not money you can have money but not love it. And one thing that you must recognise in Ugandan culture there are many single mothers? In the romany community’s there is only 12 percent divorce the same as China or Pakistan it’s sad watching this. And remember in the north the war the poverty they had so money is important for the woman

That's the main problem in the states...men aren't complaining about having to provide for their woman...the problem is many women are thinking they don't have to earn it.

You make very insightful videos. I have Ugandan heritage, born and raised outside Uganda though. So uganda was a bit romanticized to me by my parents, who are from a much older Ugandan culture. One thing that's worth mentioning is that dating is a very new phenomenon and a result of Uganda opening up to global culture since probably the 2000s. So I think there are ways in which it clashes with our traditional values to some extent. For example, in the past a girl would live in her parents home until a suiter came along to ask for her in marriage. She would then marry that guy for better or worse. His explicit promise would be to provide for her and her children till death. Even if they fell out of love, divorce was never a way out. It was totally unacceptable for a man to abandoned his responsibilities. And a woman was loyal as long as he honoured his commitment. A man could get more wives but his responsibilities remained. In other cases the parents would arrange a marriage for a girl, but still the man had his duties and she hers. In my parents generation, the few who had the opportunity to go to university also had the opportunity to meet people there. Those who did followed a more western model of courtship, but still gender roles remained the same once they got married. I have a feeling there were much fewer games in dating back then. However, in the 70s Uganda went through a brutal civil war that lasted till the mid eighties. The entire economy was burned to the ground, families torn apart and many people exiled. Every family lost members and some entire families were wiped out. Out of the ashes of that war emerged a broken society, many widows and single mothers. Because of near starvation people turn on on each other and many became cold and self centred. The culture of hustling and even scamming emerged at that time. That society was then ravaged by hiv and aids, which caused masses more to die. Many children were orphaned others endured the trauma of caring for dying parents and endured devastating poverty and deprivation. Though things have improved massively, one must acknowledge that the people who are now in the dating and marriage markets are the children of those lost decades. Rapidly losing touch with traditional ugandan life, but not yet quite fully westernised. They are somewhat stuck in the middle where they dream of the simplicity of traditional gender roles, but can't find partners who have the character, resources or grit to fulfill them. This generation are also raised on a trashy diet of Hollywood Rom Coms, Bollywood, Nollywood, telenovelas and lately South African soap operas and internalised a totally unrealistic view of love relationships, which they compare to their very pragmatic traditional relationships and find them bland and boring. They also find themselves lost and confused in no-mans-land because, while the romantic fantasy offers excitement, it also brings lots of drama, while the traditional, which hardly exists anymore promises more stability, but no excitement just hard gender roles. The natural result is disappointment, disillusionment, lack of fulfilment and, here I make a huge logical leap... I think they give up and default to the only simple practical and controllable element which is money. I'll wait for the abuse😂

One of the best and most insightful comments I've ever got on this channel. And I agree completely. African culture is hugely romanticized by older generations. But on the ground it has become a wasteland.
@trailblazersish

This was an incredibly insightful comment. You really helped me to understand the intersectionality of the genocidal dictatorships of Idi Amin, (and Milton Obote) the Bush Wars in the early 80's and the nearly two decades of civil war in the north. And prior to all that the British controlled Uganda for over 70 years. The British rearranged the society into western capitalism, so now the pursuit of money becomes important. During the lost decades, as you mentioned, the deprivation led to people resorting to scamming to get by. This became the new way of life to many and was transmitted to subsequent generations. As you also mentioned, the media influence from not just the west but the continent and from Asia as well have also had a detrimental effect as well.

Exposing 'women for what they are' in a society that leaves them bereft of direction and opportunities. I think it exposes a disgusting patriarchal attitude. I feel sorry for these women who are learning what is a parallel in America for many of us and that is that men cannot live you and learn how to manipulate from other men. Uganda women in a way are forced into a type of prostitution. And where there are 'golddiggers' there must be the predators, who must precede them. The first man you interviewed is a loser. I didn't listen to the second one at this point. They can stay in Uganda. I would never go looking for men who perceive women in this way. I really liked what Sandra tried to explain

The women are living in a culture developed by men. What more do they expect of them???? This society, by Western standards, is dysfunctional. It can only change with much upheaval. The first guy said, like any other woman anywhere else. If women are approached by MEN, right, who set this sht up but now they criticize the women they created... Jesus. The women want what they've never seen - real love. And if women cannot get or afford an education, they're left with only their bodies and some elusive sense of worth. It's very sad. I'm glad I wasn't born there

Right 😂! Who told these silly men that women don’t want money in Africa. Women all around the world want money, resources, wealth. It’s in our biological nature. Patriarchy lied to both men and women. Told women to pursue marriage and offer only love because the system knew that men are inherently lazy and aren’t going to elevate financially. So if you tell women to choose love over resources, that eliminates the need for men to elevate, gives them access to women regardless of wealth and tell women to offer love cos men are incapable of love

😊The word 'money' evokes a complex and often contradictory range of emotions across the globe, spanning political, social, and personal spheres. It is simultaneously cherished as a means of acquiring necessities, fulfilling desires, and achieving independence, while also condemned for its role in fostering inequality, fueling greed, and corrupting human values. This inherent duality highlights the subjective nature of our relationship with money, where its perceived value and impact vary significantly depending on individual experiences, societal contexts, and cultural perspectives.

When you talk about love in America you're wasting time as well. So I can relate to what the ladies are saying. It's not being cold hearted, just dealing in a truthful way. Now contrast that with all these people in America who go to the alter and they're so in love. And before the last guest leaves the wedding they're in bed with they're husband or wife's best friend. Thank you African women for being so practical and truthful.

The difference is that American ladies are not money focused and they are happy to support their man too. my American wife paid for everything for me while I moved to America to be with her from Ireland. She covered all our expenses and never complained. So when American ladies get married to you, they married for what they believe is real love at the time but obviously marriage just don’t always work and that’s outside of everybody’s control. But they don’t go into relationships with a materialistic agenda.

She said my ex would never let me pay... i was like ok i get that in African culture specifically in Uganda but i aint your ex... She told me "i feel comfortable around you" i took that as a good thing. But i feel she used me and was like im young still "i want to live my life" i was like okay then... why didnt you tell me you were serious about settling down. I really liked her but there was first red flag I always had to pay for her. Second we differed on beliefs in LGBTQ movement i dont support it, and lastly the Feminist movement she was like women can do it all, i was like ok they can do things but dont be emasculating men. There is nothing called true love. Any woman who comes to a man for a relationship is not actually for love but fulfilling her basic and luxurious needs who she can't get on her own. (Clothes, shelter, drinks, clubbing & nightlife) Living off a man's expenses. It's not just Uganda, it's a global phenomenon. I had many girlfriends in Nigeria, Kenya and all wanted money and not love. Now I'm happy being single.

At least in Uganda they have at fault divorce. A woman can't just divorce you on a whim. She has to prove you wronged her. Now, how hard is that? Idk. In America, she can just wreck your life because she feels like it.

I was fortunate to have worked with 4 of those Ugandan women for about 14 months abroad. During those months, I observed them to b friendly, kind, caring and understanding. There were days when they will buy me a food during break time, while other times they will bring me a prepared food from home so i can eat during break period. But in a nutshell, they're very nice set of women anyone can easily relate to......

I thank these beautiful black sisters for their honesty. While yes money is of importance especially when if impoverished it will be a priority but never let the need or love of money tarnish or take away the true love of and die a mate/man…you wouldn’t be just selling your self short but selling your self/body as well aka sex worker. It’s not just an Uganda thing…it’s across Africa, and to slightly lesser degree a world wide pandemic. I thank Sandra for honesty seems like a cool girl with decent heart.

poverty is a lot in uganda you just have to do what you have to do. There are girls out there who are looking for a love and barely care about the money and they want to succeed with their husbands but can’t find that perfect match and then there are women who want to be in relationships because they need someone to take care of them and they find that guys but the wants love instead. So there is a lot of mis match and when people are looking for love they go based on looks rather than personality.

One of these beautiful women said that if you are emotional then you will not be fit for the dating game in Uganda. How refreshing. They want to play at love as a sport, as a game. They do not find the seriousness or neediness of "relationship" attractive. They do not want to stare at a guy with a face with all sots of analysis and expectations like richcooper's across the other side of the table. If a man wants to have fun and doesn't want to be "trapped", he must also be non-serious and respect himself by becoming self-empowered, intelligent and as well-heeled as possible. And when it is no more fun, just learn to let go. There are so many flowers.

There's no woman on this earth who doesn't like money whether white or black woman. Unless when a woman has made her own money already and that woman will also get man who loves her because of her money. am a Ugandan but men are the ones who changed women into loving money.women used to be loving. You start with your man from the scratch and when things gets better he gets another woman who fits in his status.that made women change into something else...that's why you find a woman saying i can't date a broke guy ..coz she once stood up for someone and she got disappointed. That's why you even see ladies going abroad to work as housemaids.they trusted men and they disappointed them.they have responsibilities to take care of like children coz being single mothers.my point is, men are the ones who changed African women into that. Coz women used to be loving, obedient and caring

Ok , so what happens to your son's in future , how would you feel when your son is been taken advantage of ? Men did not make women change rather women accepted to change because all men don't roll same way , do you know that the number of men looking for real love are more than those that inflict such pain on these ladies ? Well , check out the Chinese the Indians , there dating and marriage cultures are still intact , Africa was badly influenced by they west and in the next 20 years from now on there will be no more marriages , so Africa should be ready to embrace LGBT, because the foundation that could resist it totally is broken , if it doesn't come now it's just time not far from now .

Anyone who despots you is due to your exceptions. You should never expect any men or women to build your dreams. Build your own and meet the one that you desire as equal parts. If a woman comes into a relationship with nothing and no skills, then expect to have everything. Whenever you get anything free of charge, you will never be able to appreciate the value of it. The old generation used to work hard together. Men have their roles and women have theirs. But today, women want to have it all without doing anything. They have become daily dreamers in a world full of illusions of Hollywood and social media. Because social media has been able to teach you how to sell your body. This way your mind becomes useless and your body becomes the price. The blame game is on you and nobody else.

Sorry!! The lady just said that children in Uganda do not get enough love because they are raised by "Single Parents". @WillieFungo
@WillieFungo 9 ай бұрын
That is simply not true. In certain countries like Germany or Sweden many women don't even like men to pay for their dates. In black America, women frequently date impoverished men based on their looks and street persona. If you enjoy African-style money-focused relationships, great. But don't pretend it is a universal culture because it isn't.

@@WillieFungo Like yourself I too have lived in many countries and dated from every culture on every continent minus Anartica. I can agree that women will sleep with guys that they are highly attracted to without immediately seeking funding of some sort. That's in every country. However, I've learned the game is the same all around the world , most women looking for a real relationship outside of that exception expect a man to contribute financially to her lifestyle. And in addition, that guy they like, if it gets serious he only has a certain amount of time before she will realize she can do bad by herself and leave him for the financially more stable relationship. It's not a knock on women. Women can and do have access to all types of sex(men, women, couples, groups etc..) without the need of paying to play . They enter into serious relationships for access to financial support 100%. And yes they will engage with a guy they don't like if their is something to gain.

Unfortunately, women like this tend to end up alone and broke or in abusive relationships when the youth runs out. I respect an independent woman who works for her own things because at least you would be gaining marketable skills along the way and learning how to feed yourself for life. And just you wait until those kids come along, good luck getting random men to pay to put a roof over the head of someone else's kids. Disaster in the making.

@WillieFungo yea, not too many men in my circle are going to allow a woman to dictate how much he is going to contribute to her life. She gets what he offers or she can keep it moving. 8/10 she's going to fall in line. The reason that a lot of men have problems with women like them is that they come to the table too docile and too willing to compromise on their standards and principles. I've never dated a Ugandan woman, but I have dated women from Kenya. They aren't too difficult.
