I got asked by chess beginners why a big centre is important to strive for in chess in the opening. I could tell them but struggled to demonstrate it. I'll be using this video and game to demonstrate it now. What better to demonstrate the power of a big centre than 3 passed pawns checkmating? Perfect.

Having the center makes it easier to move around the whole board instead of one of the wings/sides. Mobility simply.

@@mad-k6q Yeah I know that, but sometimes I get asked that by curious family members for example and they don't understand 😂

So glad to see you cover this beauty Will. I gave a lecture on this at out local club and also online. my theme was the importance of space, jow and why to use it and how to grab it. Only the four best students out of both classes spotted the fantastic move, which I described as the most important andthe second major turning point. Thanks Will I enjoyed your take on this.

Superb video will, i like to see this as a series of Historical chess games! Someone asked Hikaru's advice for new chess KZbin channel ideas, he immediately said to try covering old historical games because not many videos are made of this. I believe This video is the answer! I like to see more please. Keep up the good work.

Love your vids and streams Will. The way you carry yourself is very respectable and insightful. I’d love to see a vid about the concepts that that helped you grow at the beginning of your chess game.
