I really appreciate your inginuity and patience. Some of us are short on these. Fifty years ago when i got into woodworking , i had nothing and made $530/mo takehome. I built a table saw from a pool pump and a disk sander from a garbage disposal. I got a cheap router and a finish sander from Sears. With these tools i built oak cabinets for my kitchen from salvaged railroad dunnage and pallets. Now i have a shop full of tools including a Sawstop. Ive bought 9 houses over the years and remodled them all. I guess what im saying is that we live in a time of lots of cheap alternatives. However quality still costs more up front and less in the long run. Everyone has to start somewhere with what they can afford and what is available in their community. Dont judge people by your own situation everyone is doing the best they can with what they have . Keep up the good work. Lots of people are in the same place in their life and need your fresh perspective on whats possible. God bless

My grandfather, who died when I was very young so I never got to know him, reportedly built a vacation lake house out of salvaged and found materials. He even reused nails he pulled out of salvaged boards. I never thought about what he must have done for tools. I expect that anything beyond basic hand tools from Sears would have been site-built.

I appreciate his cleverness. Not only is he training beginners on basic skills and techniques, he is expanding the versatility of a couple basic tools into a whole shop of tools and broadening their thinking to create even more for thsmselves when they need a tool they can't afford, can't find, or only need for specific job, not something you'd want to spend on for one time use. Furthermore, creating them out of bits of wood, probable off cuts or waste from previous work.

An alternative to #3 is a motorcycle jack. You can get one for well under $100 (mine was $65). It supports up 500kg (1100 lbs). I use it for much the same as shown here (supporting material overhanging other tools)... and a lot more (e.g., holding up one end up a pipe while I'm at the other; I recently used to apply constant pressure from below to bend some PVC while I used the heat gun and pulled from above). The deck on mine is about 14.4" x 9". The height ranges from 3.7" to 13.8". Comes with a wrench, but I usually have a 7/8" socket on the drill to go faster, depending on the job.

Yes but that is the easy part. To use your brain in a creative way, figure ways to make tools that can help you. it`s not only fun but also a good training for your brain. But the best part is that is almost free. you can find things you can use almost everywhere.

In the 1980s, I made something very similar to your leveling jack. I was remodeling a civil war era house alone. I was really struggling with trying to use T- bars to put the ceiling sheet rock in place. I made a larger version of that device to position and clamp the sheets in place before setting screws. I put locking rollers on the legs to make it mobile. After the job, I dismanteled it and forgot it. About 6 years later, I noticed an ad in a construction magazine for the "NEW" tool to make hanging sheet rock an easy one man job. It was the exact thing I had built but really fancy, made from aluminum and very light weight. You never know.

I work with steel. To be more precise, I work with blade sharpening. It is in moments like this, when I see a human being demonstrating the beautiful and wonderful creative capacity of the species, that I still have hope that this wonderful planet will not be dominated by ignorant people. Not without a fight, not without intelligent and creative resistance, even if we are few. My sincere compliments, and true congratulations on your demonstration of talent!!! Congratulations!!! I want to answer all the couch critics at once - only those who can do something like this themselves have the right to criticize, and commentators like "what the fuck if it costs 12 euros" - these videos are not for you if your hands grow right out of the seat. Always a tool created with your own hands, not in a hurry, but with love and diligence, is especially valuable for the creator. Sometimes I do this kind of work not out of necessity, but just for the sake of creativity. now I caught sight of a burnt-out powerful drill with a gear ratio of 1:10, I decided to make a drilling machine-a hybrid of the gearbox of this drill and the engine from the "washing machine, and on one side of the engine there is a 138 rpm gearbox, and on the other a cartridge directly from the engine shaft at 1380 rpm..This design will quickly rotate 180 degrees if necessary, and this video told me how easy it is to make a movable head. I have three screwdrivers, five drills, a factory drilling machine, and nevertheless, a new machine will find a use for itself. The guy is just great, and his hands are growing from where they need to, and his brain is developed. Good luck to you and more such videos for adequate people.

Boy, are you an accident waiting to happen. When you were sawing I clearly saw you standing right in line with the saw blade. Which means that if there was a kickback, the kickbsck would hit you right in the gut. And you would hurt. Never, ever, stand in line with the blade. I was taught that in school shop in the 10th grade, the first year we were allowed to use power tools. The teacher explained kickback, then, standing well out of line of the blade, caused a kickback. That piece of wood slammed into the wall very hard. That was in about 1949, and I still recall it. I have never had a kickback, because I learned how to prevent them, but still stand out of line of a running saw blade.
