I may be wrong, but I think it was called Karlsbad under German occupation during the war. Afterwards it resumed it's Czech name of Karlovy Vary.
@poptropicano317 жыл бұрын
Karlsbad had its German name long before the German occupation of the Sudetenland, which, by the way, had been inhabited by Germans for hundreds of years, until they were brutally expelled and dispossessed after the war. To quote Wikipedia: "From as early as the second half of the 13th century onwards these Bohemian border regions were settled by ethnic Germans," Also, look at this map: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/Austria_Hungary_ethnic.svg
@petertaylor36007 жыл бұрын
It was, before WW2 part of Czechoslovakia and was called Karlovy Vary. I learnt that during German occupation it reverted to Karlsbad which it had been for centuries The expulsion of Sudetenland Germans, who were past masters of the crystal and glassware industry, made famous for its quality and beauty, was in retaliation for the collaboration with Germany during the war. It was foolish from their point of view because when they went they took the skills they were known for, with them and it's never been the same. Even recently, if driving through those Sudetenland villages, there are still deserted and abandoned houses, vacant from that time. .
@poptropicano317 жыл бұрын

Not Nazi music. No propaganda lyrics, no marching soldiers. The Volkswagen was a Nazi project - this is true and the images are taken from a promotional film for the car (and for buying savings stamps to buy one). But even this doens't contain any ideology. Be fair.

@@becconvideo In 1943 there was Nazi dictatorship in the Third Empire. Everything was controlled by the Nazi leadership in 100%. Also the culture. What means that only "Nazi" culture, music, show was allowed. So if something was allowed it was allowed by the Nazi censorship, because it was considered Nazi compatible. To be fair...
@Hunkiralyfi4 жыл бұрын
@@becconvideo Otherwise you have right. I don't like liberal or left extremity that considers everything bad what is related to Hitler or Nazism. There were also good things related to Nazism or to Hitler. Not because it's related to Nazism or Hitler, but because it was good in itself. For example the Nazis considered the health of youth people important from the point of view of national security. So a lot of educative and sport activity were held. The Nazi ideology was also propagated - what is bad - but the idea of a healthy young generation is not a bad thing even if the Nazis supported the idea. Look at the young people of the US, Europe today! There are a lot of fat person among them. Most of them does not move enough. Most of the young people watch TV or use the PC/telephone for half a day. But eat more than those who work hard. Yes, the health of young people should be important - even without Nazi ideology. It's very useful to separate good from bad, and to not reject generally "Nazi" things. Also the music is a good example.

@@Hunkiralyfi nazi and communists (aka socialists put the "common good" above the individuals.
