I am an old man who discovered Mink DeVille thanks to a friend who had just bought "Le chat bleu" (only LPs back then, early 1980's). I did not connect so soon with it but I did. Willy has been a lifetime musical companion from then on and I am glad to see videos of him, even after his departure, RIP. One of the real good / bad guys.

Almost exactly the same history as myself. A friend loved hunted down no one else had heard of and one night he played “Le chat blue”. I was hooked from then on. Brilliant album, amazing artist. I’ve loved his music ever since. Unfortunately I never got to see him live but now I can watch him live on KZbin.

When I lived in NYC in the 80's I saw two concerts back to back. The first was The Rolling Stones in a huge stadium, distant, faceless, empty. The next night was Willy Deville at the intimate Bottom Line. One was a consumer product. Willy was the true artist.

@pjbscript. I agree. If it were just for the money, he could have turned out crap like so many. It takes a ton of money just to move the band and play the venue. Increible! Meravellosa veu! El meu cantant preferit. El vaig anar a veure um any a les festes de La Mercé i em va regalar un clavell de paper que encara guardo. També vaig anar a veure'l una altra cop al que va tornar. Enamorat de Catalunya, enamorada d'ell. Ara fa feliços als angels allà on sigui. Sempre al cor. 🫶
