His voice, hauntingly beautiful. And his talent, unsurpassed. He wrote and produced so much. Willy wrote the song and the music to this. Knopfler suggested it for the movie and did the arrangement for the movie. I don't know why people don't want to give Willy DeVille the enormous credit he deserved. Jealousy, maybe. @@valeriejean130 There is no way to directly contact the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Nominating Committee to nominate someone for induction. Instead, the committee selects nominees each year based on their musical influence and cultural impact. The only formal criteria is that the artist must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nomination. Cheers, Rick

Something about Willy Deville. I have hundreds of albums and have been into all types of music, from rock, heavy metal, pop, folk, country... And I got into Mink Deville early on and bought his first 5 albums. This past month I've had on repeat mode this song, "Just to walk that little girl home", "I broke that promise", "You just keep holding on" and "Just your friends". Can't figure out. I just can't get sick of these songs. No other music does this to me. I just have to admit his music takes me to another place, another level. RIP Willy, but hope to see you live again one day!

The lyrics repeat words in a way that flouts the notion that repetition is fine in a chorus to establish a groove/theme, but to do so in a verse arguably wastes the opportunity to use a different word to expand the verse's meaning. (The use of the words 'feelings/feel,' and 'storybook/story' are examples of what I am referring to. And formatically speaking, there's no bridge to punctuate the verses, which stand or fall on their own merit without benefit of the bridge's presence. I hope that helps.

Saw Mink De Ville at The Venue in London in 1980. One of the best shows ever. Brilliant band and a truly great vocalist. Willy was an original. He could sing any style with absolute conviction. Nobody sounded like him.
