also important to mention is that up at at the very least mid 2008 spinner RPM calculation was double of what it is today, so back then on spinners you could get nearly over double score by spinning on the same RPM in the modern client, which could also add up to old nomod scores being worth alot more then 4mod scores today

Yeah there's a lot of interesting instances of this way past 2007 as well, probably the most interesting to me being the set of Sakura Kagetsu which was ranked in 2007 with three difficulties but the mapper added another difficulty 2 years later

I actually tested this myself and at least got some "#1's" with the scoring bug from 2007. I got it by restarting the map and by random chance. Fun fact: Inside the changelog from back then, there's a post saying that the bug was patched on release b100, and the 2007 client that peppy gave is release b99, meaning that was the last release with that bug inside the game.

kinda late for answer, but you reminded me this bug can occur on old versions of osu!droid (dunno if it got updated). Just tested with Tool Assisted Speedcore (with 1/8 and 1/16 divisors buzzsliders) and it can happen the other way round: missing a lot of combo (instead of getting more)

At 1:12, wasn't there a time where scores on qualified maps were carried onto the ranked section of the map? like now qualified scores are deleted once the map is ranked

There were no qualified maps back then, they just rank them afaik, and why the #1 is set before the map is submitted is because it has a previous version that is ranked, the mapper updated it but it's still ranked and the scores before the update are still intact with it. Also another interesting event was Kharl's Sakura Kagetsu mapset was ranked on 2008 with 3 difficulties, but a year later he added Pasonia's diff on the map and it got automatically ranked because of the set.
