I didn't weld the motor mounts. I just bolted them with grade 8 3/8 bolts that went through the boxed frame. You may have to shift the motor to get the right angle for the driveshaft and for the shifter not to hit the dashboard. You can add a rubber donut, or drop the trans mount lower. I had added the power steering a year after the engine swap. I got rid of the tbi, and put on a Chinese 2 bbl Rochester. Had to buy the intake manifold online as they changed from a 12 bolt intake to 8 bolts. This motor is a W code 190 HP - 265 lbs torque. I also have a '73 cj-5 that I had re done. Let me know if you need anything else. Mike M.

Thanks Mike for the info! Most helpful. I'm editing the next video now where I worked through all those issues. It worked well for me to move the engine and trans about an inch toward the passenger side. So far, I'm fairly happy with the TBI. It runs consistent so I'll probably stick with it. However, it doesn't work like a carburetor in certain situations, like double-clutching down a gear. I'm still trying to get used to that. Thanks again for watching and for the advice!

Excellent! The 4.3 should deliver plenty of TQ.

I put a '98 4.3 in my '83 cj-7. I don't know what year your motor is, but if it's newer than a '96, the left side exhaust manifold won't fit. I had to get a used '94 from eBay. You can use rockauto to get a picture of it. The older one empties out between the motor mount & the clutch cylinder. I had a shop make the exhaust. I changed it over to V belt & HEI dist. Had to use old style water pump. Made my own brackets for alt & power steering. I have the T-5 trans that was originally in it. Original motor was the iron duke.

Right on! Yep, I fought the exhaust manifold setup. I had to do it differently because of the early Ross style steering setup in this old Jeep. The engine is a 1992 model, and works well. Thanks for watching!
