Willys Jeep Clutch Release Bearing & Carrier INSTALL

Instructional guide how to install the clutch release bearing (throw out bearing) and carrier onto the transmission main drive input shaft gear when working on a complete clutch overhaul. Their purpose is to put pressure onto the clutch pressure plate and clutch friction plate when the clutch pedal is pressed. Correct assembly is extremely important and all steps provided should be executed.

During the harsh winter months in Canada we decided to take the Willys apart, fix a few parts, and get it back on the road. Then repeat this the next winter. During the winter of 2021 we rebuilt the brakes and basic engine upgrades (spark plugs, water pump, distributor, ignition coil, etc.). THIS winter of 2022 we are tackling to replace the transmission and transfercase but finding lots of other problems deep within the engine. My bearing came off the throw out carrier. Do I press it on?

Can you install the throw-out bearing with the bell house on the jeep?

Yes, the throw-out bearing is located inside the bell housing. The engine has to removed install it though.

My clutch cable came out. I can see the lever with the inspection plate removed and it is not where it should be--- it is jammed up at the top of the bell housing and partially covering the inspection hole. Would it be easier to drop the transmission or pull the engine? The top bolts look difficult to get to. Do I need to remove the body? Just wondering the easiest route. Thanks for any advice!
