the funniest thing was when the Singapore government blamed Indonesia for the haze from Sumatra that reached Singapore. singapore is quite cunning often pretend. he is the one causing the problem through his agribusiness company. but blame Indonesia? while Singapore is reluctant to take responsibility for forest destruction and modern slavery

Wilmar is the first palm oil company Duta palma's 2nd palm oil company. In May 2022 the duta palma boss was arrested for giving some money to the local government in Riau province. 5 billion dollars of Duta Palma's company assets will be returned to the government. We are still waiting for the government to arrest Marua Sitorus, one of Wilmar Int's bosses.👍

I worked for the Kuok group before there is Wilmar. The company grew by deploying their agricultural and processing expertise from Malaysia where the group started and contributed to the economies and development of other countries. They are good at running their businesses navigating political, social, environmental and who knows what other pressure groups. To single out Wilmar is irresponsible. To ignore it's contributions is deception. Your negative reporting only harm the causes you purport to champion.

Western perspective on the palm oil business in Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Africa which is controlled from Singapore. The west has been running an anti-palm oil campaign because they simply could not compete. Palm oil is the highest yielding oil in the world. The yield per hectare of land is 5 to 10 times higher compared to other oil, therefore required the least amount of land to produce a single tonne of oil compared to other oil. Soy's production need 10 times more land and forest would have to be cleared. For those who are ignorant, oil palm grow up to a height of 20 metre and oil palm plantations look like secondary jungles. For economic reason oil palms are replanted every 30 years although the palm can live up to 100 years.

Everyone knows the role played by Singapore in the degredation of the environment in Southeast Asia. Tycoons of Indonesia and Malaysia, most of whom are ethnic Chinese, illegally cut down trees and burn forests to build oil plam plantations, and in the process cause mass destruction of the environment. They make billions doing this, and park their ill gotten profit in Singapore, buying up condos, stocks and bonds, and putting their children in private schools and universities in Singapore. This is what made Singapore one of the richest countires in the world. Is the Singapore government aware of this racket? Of couse, they are. But since it benefits Singapore at the expense of the neighboring countries, they let it happen right under their nose and keep quiet about it.

@@angxiang3186 But I didn't say procure. Many of these Indonesian and Malaysian tycoons don't need to be extradited. They continue to live in their own countries and engage in environmental degredation and continue to transfer their ill-gotten wealth out and park it in Singapore. The problem is that Indonesia and Malaysia have weak environmental laws and what these tycoons are doing are perfectly legal in their countries. Thus, everyone knows that Singapore is complicit in the environmental destruction in the neighboring countries.
