Back in '01 the system was still starting up, hence the empty spaces. Today, I hear it's fuller, thanks to connecting express busways and the bad economy.

Update 8 Years Later.... Thanks to more Metro Rail Expansion and more development around the city, Metro Rail is becoming more crowded and vital to the daily commute to Downtown and the Wilshire Corridor.

Its mostly empty because you have to wait for the train a whole century.
