Wilson Bar is an airstrip in the Idaho Backcountry adjacent to the Salmon River. Many Whitewater rafting trips go down this river.
Wilson Bar airstrip is 1500' Long at an elevation of 2275'. The difficult part about Wilson bar is the fact you are flying a blind approach. It is not until the last 200 yards will you see the runway. Therefore you have to be on speed and on altitude for the landing to be successful. A go around is likely not possible if you touch down too far down the runway and decide to go around.
Deep in the canyon it requires tight precise maneuvering for a successful approach and landing.
