The handle of the Astrel 100 features Yonex' Ergo Power Grip which means the grip is larger at the bottom, and thinner towards the top of the grip. The system allows more of your hand to be in contact with the grip for better access to power.

Yup Kojak...most paint jobs look excellent on pro stock racquets. This is why you hear complaints about paint so often these days on many retail models. It's cheaper and is getting worse. Latest Wilson ultra's (v3) the worst I've ever seen for a so called premium stick. The paint literally just peels away from literally nothing. Guess that's one of the reasons they are priced cheaper than other premiums. They are made on the cheap!! Fyi.... I was hitting with a pro out here this afternoon. He's still using a head microgel (os), unsure what pro stock model it's called. Lead at 4 & 8, plus lead under the bumper. He had two sticks out...he broke the strings with Alu power, had another rpm blast. The interesting thing though was he strung at 42lbs (even in that oversize). We spoke a lot about strings and some pros & what they string at, along with what the players think about the US Open going ahead. Not surprised the stick felt a bit firmer that stated RA 57....exactly what the lead does, other than increasing the sw, it's about stability. Great job....and I'm sure you were hitting as powerfully as Tennys with that stick!!

I do know that some prostock racquets have epoxy used to add weight instead of silicone. Personally don't really the reason why they would use it instead. Maybe because it drys quicker and is easier to apply without any air bubbles? I personally have a H22 18x20 in a Burn 100 PJ. Would love to use it as my main racquet but the grommets are really hard to find and expensive. Wished Wilson will let us order the grommets should be cheaper that way.
@Kevmc10234 жыл бұрын
Correct, it's epoxy. The reason why some pros's used is because the silicone is a soft material and kinda damped the feel a bit and the epoxy hardens after it drys , so it does not change the feel it only adds weight.

Interesting thing is even though it's a 16x19 there are 8 strings that go down that lower hoop grommets, something you only see in 18x20 rackets. That gives you an idea how tight that stringbed is in the centre. It's a 16x19 but as tight as a 18x20
@PCSStringing4 жыл бұрын
@PolKsio "...even though it's a 16x19 there are 8 strings that go down that lower hoop grommets, something you only see in 18x20 rackets". That's absolutely not true. There are lots of 16 main racquets that have 8 grommets/holes in the throat bridge. 8 holes in the throat bridge is not something exclusive to racquets with 18 mains.

Very recently, I acquired a new H22 (18x20, Blade V7 PJ), I guess the H22 is under 300g when it is in raw form. As my H22 came 300.6g filled with silicone in the handle (including the Wilson perforated cushion grip). And it feels head heavy when swinging the racquet, and even I've added more weight around the handle making 31.6mm balance (340.00g with 2 overgrips and strings). It packs a heafty punch like RF97 but, feels much nicer (BUT! Still has that Wilson Pro staff's solid feel). Basically, it's a head heavy feeling, softer RF97 with 98 sq inch head (or a head radical with Wilson's taste). Which makes it, one of the best racquet you can play with...

Blade CV had a plastidip matte black finish to them. Don't know about v7 since I've never touched one. PS: I've just opened the end cap on my FST Burn 95 out of curiosity and only one side of the chamber has silicone in it.. also it's not even well plugged with it. Whoever did it in China did an awful job. Wilson bad QC is pretty standard though. Please check both sides of the SW on the racquets with only one chamber with silicone/foam to see if it affects the SW or not. I mean chamber plugged side up and down. Thanks
@jerome_morrow4 жыл бұрын
No need for the up/down check. The SW will be the same. SW is measured relative to a point 10cm up for the buttcap - ergo, small weight changes at the grip end have little effect.

I don’t know which racquet you use! I’ve been doing this for years, instead of sticking to my pro staff (used to be RF but now reg PS) I want to always try different things and then I think I like it. I’ve used the PS like I said and I mostly like it , especially on slice and volleys. I’ve had the heavier clash and there were things I liked about it, I thought about using Yonex because I’ve heard they’re comfortable, I have like some of the babolats (pure strike and Roddicks racquet) and I’ve used volkl. I’m getting older, was a hard hitter, all court player so if anyone has a racquet that I just have to try let me know. I keep telling myself to stay with pro staff or clash and leave it alone but...I don’t think I want anything heavier than a pro staff anymore since my arm is starting to bother me a little bit. Tired of Messing with lead tape too because I just haven’t gotten it right! I’m sure it could help but I’m not exactly sure, prob because I don’t play a lot I just teach

@J....they don't sell pro stock racquets, not considering whether your average player can actually use them, because there's no marketing involved. The companies want you to get sucked into the latest technologies, which most pro stocks don't bother with, so that you buy new sticks yearly. Cheers

I thought everyone who strung for the pros knew what the H22 is... it's not a Blade, ProStaff, or anything Wilson ever made. It's a Head Prestige, which Wilson had to reverse engineer so they could sponsor players that didn't like anything they were already making. It's a blatant, shameless copy. And the reason for the different paint - you'll notice that no matter what the cosmetics of the production racquets are, the pros who use them will always have a glossy or flat finish. All things being equal, a glossy finish will feel different from a flat finish.
