I tried the Triad after your review of balls about a month ago. Previous year model, 2 doz for 60 dollars. Great ball, good feel, holds the green, good distance. Looks like I’ll move on to the 2025 soon. Thanks for the reviews. Much appreciated.

Hi Roy! I’m glad the videos are relatable! That’s exactly what I’m about! I’ve also tested the brand new Duo Soft which will land on my channel in the next week or so too! (Quick spoiler - it’s another great ball for its price point and gave me some good numbers!). Thanks for watching! 👍🏼

Hi SigmaJAD! I’ve previously tested the Seed SD-01 on the channel and really liked it - a great DTC option! It was a while ago but I remember it performing very similar to Pro V1 so won’t be a million miles away from the Titleist numbers in this video! I’ve not yet put the Vice balls on TM yet and that’s something I need to put right this year as a lot of people have asked! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼

Luke, thank you for another excellent review of a golf ball. As I mentioned the last time you reviewed the Wilson Triad, I was very impressed with it and put it in my bag. It’s super that the most recent version of it is even better. Thanks for letting us know!

Hi Patrick! Thank you for watching and the lovely comment! Glad the last video helped. I think you’ll enjoy the new version too. It feels to me like a subtle improvement just to round off the edges. The fraction softer feel is minor but I like it, the spin performance now very consistent as well as good and the distances remain right up there for me. All the best pal! 👍🏼

Got a box of the previous version. It will be interesting to see how this one performs. It's between the triad and the TM tour response for me. I do love the alignment tool on the TM ball however.
@weekendtourpro3 күн бұрын
Hi Jim! In my hands I get a bit more spin out of the Triad and a bit more distance out of the Tour Response! As you know I tend to love all balls in this category (best combination of performance, price and feel at my swing speeds based on all my testing) and therefore I think both are excellent options as different golfers will have slightly different needs and preferences, like you have with the alignment tool whilst I need the extra spin! Thanks for watching mate!

@@weekendtourpro Cheers Luke. Wilson does some excellent equipment. It's good to see someone testing it. I'm using the Wilson Zip or Srixon marathon soft I found in sports direct as my winter ball and will move onto the tour response when it gets warmer. I also play the Wilson tour ball in dry conditions when I need more spin. All excellent products but I definitely hole more putts with the tour response. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.

Great review Luke. I came close to using this ball last year but, as you know, I ended up going with the Vice Pro Plus. I’ll look forward to hearing about your on course testing. Hopefully you’ll be able to comment on the durability of the ball when you get it on course. Sometimes durability is a concern with slightly less premium ball
@weekendtourpro3 күн бұрын
Hi Gary! I took it out for 9 holes yesterday. Played 4 holes with my Bridgestone and then switched to the Wilson for the last 5 holes. Obviously this is subjective (rather than my usual objective data driven approach) but first impressions were that ball flights, particularly with wedges and irons were as high as I'd seen on TM (which I loved) distances were good, feel was great and it rolls lovely off the putter. Can't comment on durability yet but I think any urethane cover ball (whether that's Pro V1 or this) will never be as durable as a surlyn cover but I didn't have any immediate concerns! The Bridgestone is getting very very worried! Haha! Thanks for watching!

I have 2 dozen of current model to use. Problem I have is in winter I’ll use almost any ball as so easy to lose a ball in the low sun, wet leaves, plugging etc. I find so many good balls as well just today have found 8 balls that are all playable so have gone in the bag
@weekendtourpro2 күн бұрын
Hi Guyr7351! Thanks for watching! I don’t think you’re alone in your approach in the winter! So many people I know change to a cheaper ball or are a bit more willing to use one they find etc! Regarding the Triad I think this is evolution and rounding off the edges of the previous model (which was already AWESOME!) rather than revolution. So when you’ve used up your existing supply I think you’ll enjoy the move over to the new model! 👍🏼

Nice video. One suggestion: when testing golf balls, give the hitting area of the mat a quick spray with water or soapy water. Should stop the artificial turf from grabbing onto the ball while you're hitting it and give you spin numbers more consistent with real grass.
@weekendtourproКүн бұрын
Hi Omnis2! Thanks for watching! I’ll give that tip a try, thank you for the recommendation! My natural instinct is to question if it not then reduce friction or if it will be hard for me to replicate consistently to ensure video to video I can compare but definitely open to trying it when I’m next in the studio so thank you! 👍🏼
@Omnis2Күн бұрын
@@weekendtourpro It'll reduce friction between ball and mat, but if you start with a clean dry ball each time the friction with the clubface is unaffected and you should see spin jump up 1-2k rpm.

Looking forward to trying the new ball as the current model is my gamer. It just feels the sweet spot compression wise for a 90mph SS. I do really like the slightly firmer z star diamond in warm weather however as it flies higher and spins like a pro v1x with a softer feel and you can pick them up for £34 from a well known online retailer.
@weekendtourpro3 күн бұрын
Hi 2AngelN6! I totally agree with you! There’s a few balls in that compression category (inc. the ones I mentioned) and they ALL see to deliver the best all round package of price/performance/feel at my SS (same as yours!). If anyone of my level/speed tells me they play any of them and are happy I totally get why! For me, where I need that touch more spin and height the Wilson has just sprinted into the gold medal position for me! I’m a big fan of Srixon balls too so love that you switch to that in warm weather! The new Wilson Triad is definitely flying higher in my hands, particularly with Wedges and Irons (backed up with my on course testing yesterday in the cold UK winter!) so might be worth seeing how you get on! Thanks for watching pal! Appreciate your great comment too! 👍🏼

I agree. This or the Bridgestone. How has this version changed for 2025?
@weekendtourpro3 күн бұрын
Hi Paul! The four key changes Wilson call out vs the previous version are: 1. Slightly lower compression for a touch softer feel and slightly faster ball speeds 2. A fraction less driver spin (to help with that high launch / low spin) 3. An improved urethane cover for more iron/wedge spin 4. Incredible consistency through what they call their tri-balanced design so you should get a true roll off the putter and extreme consistency from one ball to the next - something that’s hard for me to test but not something I’ve ever had concerns with Wilson balls before. I’d consider it a rounding off of the edges of the previous model rather than a revolution - which I think is great news! I took it out on the course yesterday and the love continued! My Bridgestone is worried for the first time in a couple of years! Haha! Thanks for watching Paul!

Perhaps you could compare the older Triad version to 5h4 new one. Thanks.
@weekendtourpro2 күн бұрын
Hi Mark! Sadly I don’t think I’ll get a chance to do that before old stock is sold through and only the new one is available, at which point I think the video won’t add any value for people. However in short the changes are evolution rather than revolution. More a rounding off of the edges! Slightly softer feel, a touch less driver spin, a touch more wedge/iron spin and a more consistent ball through the bag. I’d be surprised if people playing the old version didn’t find the changeover to be seamless! Not sure if that helps though? Thanks for watching! 👍🏼

nice review. with which ball you achieved the longest total distance? I have a similiar swing speed and the Titleist avx and tp5 are the longest for me at the moment.
@weekendtourpro2 күн бұрын
Hi Bessergolfmitalex! I think that’s hard for me to answer as some balls carry a bit longer and others roll out a bit more and some are longer in different parts of the bag. I tend to find that budget softer golf balls are longer in wedges and irons (due to less spin) but shorter in driver whilst firmer balls are longer with driver and shorter in wedges and irons (due to more spin!). If we were talking pure distance off the tee with driver I’d be similar to you… A premium firmer ball. One thing I would say is when it’s all evened out I find the balls in the middle are just as long but give me more control and I need that! Thanks for watching!

I don’t think I will use anything else then the triad, I’ve used a few balls and the Triad just feels better, lasts longer (I’ve played 3 rounds with one triad, I only retired it because it was so dirty). It must fly straighter too, I lose less of them, which makes them extremely cheap.
