So today I purchased my first A2000. I have never used any other glove besides Rawlings in my life and let me just say that within the 3 hours I've had it, I've fell in love with it. The feel is amazing. I'm impressed at the work you guys do. You've made me a believer and also converted me. My DP15 is my favorite glove I've ever had. Such an amazing piece of equpiment. Well done Wilson.

As with all baseball gloves, catching a ball in the heel might sting because of the reduced padding. On the DP15, the reduced heel does make you more likely to feel sting but this will not adversely affect how you use the mitt. The reduced palm construction will help give you more feel for the ball while making plays in the infield.

Hey Eric, it’s great to hear that you’ve got a lot of versatility. The web you’re referring to allows for a quick transfer from your glove to your throwing hand, and is a benefit reserved mostly for infielders because they need to be quick. Outfielders prefer the Pro-Laced T-Web, the Dual Post Web, or the Six Finger Web because it allows for a deeper pocket when tracking down fly balls.

The DP15 will be a great glove for you in the hot corner and give you the versatility to play other positions. Will Middlebrooks of the Boston Red Sox uses it there as well. We always recommend using a glove that feels best and that you’re most comfortable with, above all else. Thanks for being a member of Team Wilson!

We recommend you check out the A2000 1786 (11.5”), the DP15GM (11.5”) or A2000 SC 1787-SS (11.5”). The 1786 is our most popular infield glove and can be purchased with SuperSkin which is twice as strong and half the weight of leather. The DP15GM is Dustin Pedroia’s Game Model glove and comes with a smaller hand opening, reduced palm pad, and extra-long laces.

Hi Zach, typically third basemen use a glove that is 11.75-12”. Evan Longoria’s Game Model, the A2000 EL3, is 11.75” while David Wright’s Game Model, the A2K DW5, is 12”.

Dustin has an older A2K with the same specs as the A2000 DP15 and chooses which one to use depending on how he's feeling. He uses the A2K often, but we've seen him use the A2000 a lot this season too.

The Showcase 1787-SS is designed for players with smaller hands and also has more narrow finger slots, hand opening, and SuperSkin to keep it light. We recommend trying them on in-store to see what feels best! We do not currently have plans to open a custom A2K shop.

Our most popular outfield gloves are the KP92 and the 1799. The KP92 (12.5”) has a Pro-Laced T-Web while the 1799 (12.75”) is a little bigger and has a Dual Post Web. Try them on at your local glove shop to see which one feels best!

There are many updates to the pattern to make the DP15 have a more snug fit in addition to the wrist strap. The finger stalls are shorter and narrower, measurement between the palm and back finger leather is tighter, and the back fingers come further down on the hand.

The A2000 DP15 has extra-long laces, a smaller hand opening, and less padding than a regular A2000. The A2K will have the Pro Stock Select leather you mentioned as well as an extra palm-pad for cushioning. If you can, try them on in-store; that will help you find the right fit for your hand.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 12 жыл бұрын
Both would be great options for you, especially if you’re considering SuperSkin (twice the strength, half the weight). We would recommend the DP15 to you if you’re looking for a tighter fit around the wrist. The Showcase models (designed for a younger player or a player looking for a tighter-fitting glove) are also recommended for you.

Great question. There are a few differences between the DP15 and the 1786. Both are 11.5” and have an H-Web. The DP15 comes with a reduced heel pad to increase feel, a smaller hand opening, extra-long laces and rolled dual welting. The DP15 is now approaching the 1786 as the most popular infielder’s glove, so you can’t go wrong with either.

We recommend an A2000 SC-DW5 (11.5”) or A800 EL3 (11.75”). The A2000 Showcase model is made with Pro Stock leather and has a smaller hand opening and narrow finger slots to accommodate a smaller hand or a player who is looking for a more snug fit. The A800 DW5 is made with Ecco Leather and will come almost game-ready but may fit a little larger than the Showcase A2000. Both gloves will be a perfect crossover glove to use at 3B and in the OF!

Since you’re looking for a versatile glove that allows you to play infield and outfield, we recommend the A2000 DW5 SS. It is a 12” glove with a dual post web that will give you the reach you need in the outfield and a pocket that is the right amount of deep for a utility player.
@wilsonballgloves

Yes, your A2K will stay firm because Pro Stock Select Leather is, in our opinion, the best glove leather available. But like we said before, how you care for your glove factors in greatly into maintaining its shape for multiple seasons. If you want it to last, store it properly and somewhere that’s well ventilated. You may also want to periodically tighten the laces on the glove.

We recommend the A2000 1786 (11.50”). It’s our most popular infield glove and features an H-Web used by players like Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez. The A2000 1787 is an 11.75” option that has the same H-web as the 1786.

The main benefit of using two fingers in the pinky slot is a deeper pocket, which some players feel more comfortable with. By not having an index finger under the back of the pocket, the leather can flex more each time the ball is caught and the pocket can stretch more than glove used with normal hand placement. It also gives more strength when closing the glove and minimizes sting. Let us know what you think!
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 12 жыл бұрын
Evan Longoria’s A2000 EL3-SS is a great glove for a middle infielder who also plays third! We suggest breaking the glove in so that it has a little shallower of a pocket than normal if you’ll be spending most of your time at 2B or SS. With a classic look that Evan prefers, the D-shaped pocket and orange tan leather will help you at either of those positions.

We are unable to make a 12” version of the DP15 as it is customized directly for Dustin. For a 12” infielder’s glove, we recommend the DW5 (12”) which comes with a dual post web and will give you the length you’re looking for. Brandon Phillips uses a custom A2K 1786 (11.5").

We made the A2000 version with Dustin, but it takes him years to get a glove game ready. We’ve seen the A2000 DP15 make some appearances (reference the game I sent an image from earlier…I think it was on the same day as the Boston Marathon vs the Yankees), but there’s a chance Dustin won’t make the full-time switch for awhile.

It all depends on your hand size and personal preference. The DP15 will fit most hands snugger as it is designed to accommodate a smaller hand and is Dustin Pedroia’s Game Model. The DP15 is also ¼” shorter than the 1787.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 12 жыл бұрын
The A2000 1786 (11.50”) will be very similar to Dustin’s and have a little more padding in it as well. The A2000 1787 is a little longer (11.75”) and is also comparable to the DP15. If you’d like more padding, the same models are produced as A2Ks, which have an extra palm pad in them to lessen sting and add durability. You can flare any of these mitts out as you break them in and make them as soft as you’d like.

If you’re worried about the size of your hand in the A2000 DP15 GM, we recommend visiting your local dealer and trying one on before making your decision. While the A2000 1786 and the DP15 GM are very similar (11.5” glove with an H-Web), Dustin Pedoria’s modifications make the feel of the DP15 GM slightly different than that of the 1786. There are multiple modifications, including narrower finger stalls -- as well as the hand opening.

The RB8GM will feel like a true 12.75” mitt and is based on the 1799 pattern. It has a deep pocket that can be increased or decreased depending on how you break it in.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 9 жыл бұрын
@RC_Adv3ntur3s Both are made using the same Pro Stock glove patterns, but there are some differences. A2Ks use ProStock Select Leather while A2000s use ProStock Leather. The ProStock Select makes for a softer leather that is easier to break-in but is also more durable. A2Ks have double palm construction, but A2000s do not. This makes it so that A2000s have a little more “feel”, but the double palm construction makes A2Ks more durable. In general the A2K will arrive a little softer than the A2000, but it is designed to last even longer. More pros choose the A2000, but you’ll see both on MLB diamonds. If you can, we suggest you try on both an A2K and A2000 at a local store and choose the one that feels best on your hand.

I'm not crazy about dp15s but the no heel padding or at least minimal heel padding is something I wish more gloves offered. a rawlings I bought happened to have little to no padding and I love that feeling. also makes break in time alot easier. and not even all dp15s have the heel-less padding. I think it would be convenient to know right away which models or lines do or don't have it cause I feel alot of people besides myself (and Dustin obviously) like that feeling

The wrist opening are very similar between the DP15 and the Showcase series. Not two models have the exact same wrist opening because the patterns themselves all differ; but the DP15 and the Showcase gloves are all similar.

The DP15 has less padding to mirror Dustin Pedroia’s game model which is why you may feel the ball more with this glove. You can try a batting glove or palm-pad to help with the sting you're feeling.

We recommend the A2000 DP15GM. The A2000 (11.50") will have more of Dustin's modifications than the A2K (smaller hand, long laces) compared to the larger A2K (11.75"). The JH32 is an extra-large hand opening to mimic Josh Hamilton’s gamer, so we recommend staying away from this one if your hands are smaller. We recommend trying on the A2000 KP92 (12.5) or the A2000 SC-B2 (11.75”), A2000 SC DW5 (11.5”) or A2000 SC 1787 (11.5”). The Showcase (SC) is designed for players with smaller hands and also has narrower and shorter finger sheaths; the length of the glove is also shorter than the KP92 (0.75” - 1” shorter).

The DP15 is Dustin’s Game Model, so everything about the DP15 is exactly like Dustin’s glove. If you customize at DP15 on the Wilson Custom Glove Shop, it will be 11.5” and include the same features as his gamer - including an H-Web, extra long laces, a low profile heel and a snug fit compared to most of the A2000 models.
@wilsonballgloves
@wilsonballgloves 9 жыл бұрын
@brandon ferris Hey Brandon, thanks for the question. Yes, the glove’s fit is more snug due to the Pedroia Fit. As for the model you should go with, we recommend either the A1K OTIF or the A1K 1787. The OTIF was made for pitchers who also play infield due to its 11.5” size, shallow pocket, and Trap web to help conceal your grip on the mound. You can find it on our site here: www.wilson.com/en-us/baseball/gloves/infield/a1k/otif-baseball-glove/. The 1787 is another great optionbecause of its 11.75” length which gives you the extra reach that is ideal for third base. You can find it on our site here: www.wilson.com/en-us/baseball/gloves/infield/a1k/1787-baseball-glove-2014/.

Wilson A2Ks are designed to be easier to break in than an A2000 but last as long as or longer than A2000s. They are made with ProStock Select Leather, the top 5% of Pro Stock hides, and crafted with Rolled Dual-Welting. One of the best ways to ensure your mitt has a long life is to properly break it in and care for it.

The DP15 is probably a little short for third base. We typically recommend a 12" glove like the DW5 or an 11.75" like the EL3. If you like the style of the DP15 but want a glove for third, try out the 11.75" 1787. It comes as the A2K 1787, the A2000 1787 or the A2000 1787-SS so you have a lot of choices! Let us know what you decide.

We do not have an A2K BP4 for 2013 (he loves his current A2K) but we do have more gamer models coming out. Stay tuned.

Shipping time is 7-to-10 weeks so you would probably receive your glove in mid-July...perfect for the last half of summer headed into off-season.

@Hunter Schum Hi Hunter. For you, we recommend either the A2K DATDUDE GM or the A2000 DP15. The A2K DATDUDE, worn by Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, is 11.5” and features a shallow pocket with an H-Web which helps with quick transfers. The new 2016 features faux Snakeskin ProStock Select leather along the back fingers of BP's glove. No other glove has this premium textured leather. The A2000 DP15 is Dustin Pedroia’s Game Model glove, and is also 11.5”. However, the difference with this glove is that it features Pro Stock Leather as well as PedroiaFit, which offers a tighter and more snug fit that allows players to have better feel for the ball. You can check out both gloves here: www.wilson.com/en-us/baseball/gloves/infield/a2k/datdude-gm-baseball-glove/ www.wilson.com/en-us/baseball/gloves/infield/a2000/dp15-gm-baseball-glove/.
