Thanks for explaining this in a way that a simple man (me) can understand. I appreciate that you explained it without yelling “stay in your buck” over & over without explaining what the heck “stay in your buck” means in plain North American English (pls let BBR know that I still love his vids & learn from him too). I love my 20+ year old faithful chainsaw, but I often run into situations where the tree’s diameter is 30% or more greater than my 20” bar. I’m just an average landowner, not a pro logger (Santa has yet to deliver the 50 - 66cc saw I keep asking for). Thanks to this video, after decades of doing it wrong / the hard way, I finally know how to do it right. Sincerely, very appreciative subscriber.

@BrianDoherty-e8sАй бұрын
Excellent square cuts. All good cutters do it this way on big logs keeping the bar in the wood transitioning between bottom and top. One thing I would change is to wear longer cutting chaps that reach almost to the top of the foot, unless you are expecting high water! You have an unprotected area of about 10". I would never consider boot uppers as protection alone unless you are wearing Kelar-protected boots. I have seen plenty of lower leg cuts and cuts through boot uppers amongst the "high water" boys.

Very informative. I don’t have trees on my property that size but then my bar ain’t that long. The theory is the same and will come in handy on those 45’ dead pines.
@jamesgoens35313 ай бұрын
Enjoy your videos and presentations. Lots of good info. As a property owner and not a logger, I don’t have to be concerned with my cuts being square. However, it’s still a nice challenge to get my cuts as close as possible. I’ve put this to use on a large, dead walnut tree that blew down. My 20” bar feels downright tiny compared to your 32” bar. 🤣

@Lucas12vАй бұрын
Having the left and right teeth different lengths or sharpness can do that. It's easy to sharpen each side a little different because of handedness. Could just be the way you're driving the saw too though. Good luck, keep learning and stay safe.
@stefflus083 ай бұрын
That first one looks like the biggest kickback risk of anything I've seen on your channel. I'm not gonna adopt that one. Maybe I'll try cutting the side first going downwards instead.
