Pt. 1 Milling Douglas Fir Beams Timbers and Posts on Woodmizer LT15 Sawmill

Milling some beams timbers and posts out of Douglas fir logs with my Woodmizer LT15 Start sawmill. I make some 4x6 4x8 and some other pieces of lumber.
I got one log cut up and in the next video I will mill the rest up. Hopefully I will have enough out of this one tree to get the pieces I need. I’m trying to get this order done before the rains come and it gets too muddy to get another tree out in case I don’t have enough. Since there’s a little time crunch I didn’t do much talking while shooting the video. Instead I use this as an opportunity to practice doing voice over. Trying to do it without sounding to monotone but having some difficulty there still. But I tend to be a little monotone anyway so maybe it’s OK.
In the previous video I cut down the tree with a Stihl MS 462 chainsaw. Also assisted by a Stihl 044 chainsaw. I used my Massey Ferguson MF 30 MF 34 tractor with a Farmi 501 Winch to skid the logs and load them. You can watch that video here.

It’s a standard 50 foot tape. I have been using this one for decades. Thanks for that great suggestion, maybe I will do a video someday about it.

Are you buying some of these logs locally? Or all off your property?

They are off my property. I have had a small number of logs I took off my neighbors property when they had some trees dying. They just gave them to me to get rid of them.
