@jogendron6320 , Wilt Chamberlain was the most hard fouled basketball player in any era, the Boston Celtics hired enforcers to elbow Wilt Chamberlain on and off-the-ball aswell... Jordan had little to complain about Compared to Wilt...the rules helped Jordan dominate in an expansion era and the same could be said about Shaquille O'Neal... Wilt one on one in the modern era, dominates more than in his era, instead of a Boston celtic player running in front of Wilt off the ball, giving Bill Russell the advantage of camping out in Wilts favorite fadaway spot forcing Wilt to dunk, with two or three players hanging off him or elbowing him... That's a major difference the nba let it happen!

@dominictant-Wilt is not even close to being basketballs goat. He is never mentioned when that debate comes up. In his day he was unmatched in hight and wingspan, when the average hight in the NBA was 6'3ish, he was almost a foot taller. Wilt displayed almost no PURE athleticism COMPARED to players from even as far back as the 80s, but he didn't need it in his era. Imagine Shaq as a rookie in 1959 when the average hight of a player was 6' 3ish, now Imagine Wilt as a rookie in 1992 when the average was almost 6'7ish. Shaq would no doubt have more points and rebounds than Wilt. Wilt in 1992 would have less points and rebounds than Shaq. I guess that's why it's said that one shouldn't compare eras.

imo bball doesn't suit him best, he was fast but his quickness wasn't on the same level as his speed. Speed is useful in quarter mile because there is more room for you to run up to your full speed but in basketball it's all about moving within 5-9m most of the time you can't get nowhere near your full speed, you need quickness to keep up with people in short bursts, in bball you need more quickness than speed, he's package was the opposite so bball was not his stong suit. He was also very skinny so if he faced bigs around his height but bulkier he is at a big disadvantage because those guys may be both quicker and heavier than him. Just to add 7'1 isn't that tall for a NBA centre tbh.

In the mid 80s, more than a decade after retiring, Wilt was riding an elevator with some delivery men with a large load on a dolly. The elevator settled several inches low when the door opened due to the weight on that dolly. The deliverymen could not lift that dolly up and out of the elevator. Wilt asked the delivery men if he could help, and they agreed. Retired wilt, dead lifted that dolly by himself up about 6 inches, and sent them on their way. That dolly was 600 pounds.

The talent back then was less diluted as it is today plus if you dont thinkthe talent back then was good then look up the names nate thurmond and wilis reed. Not to mention when their careers overlaped wilt was able to play effectively against jabbar despite the age diff

I would easily place Wilt and Russell ahead of Shaq in terms of pure athleticism because both players lettered in track and field, and they possibly could have competed in the olympics. Don't just look at Wilt's weight: there was so much more to his stature. It really boils down to skill and intelligence, and in those areas, I think Wilt would get the best of Shaq. Wilt could dominate from the high post as well as the low post. He was a more complete center, and he would give Shaq hell.

There are plenty right here on You Tube. I am sure someone has them but It is not a top priority for me to find them. You can check him out in one of the Conan The Barbarian movies with Arnold S.

That's why he was so great in regular season and had difficulties in the playoffs -» that's a fact! He started to have success in the playoffs when he was a Lakers; by this time, he know his role, he started passing the ball to his teammate, he started to set the pick in ''pick and roll'' plays... he played like a real NBA players! His best performance ever known in the playoffs were with the Lakers because he played to win, not to inflate his numbers (putting great stats)! Like Jordan (Bulls)

@ryanrpitem Because unfortunately there were no video cameras rolling in that game, only photographers were. The NBA wasn't as popular then as it is now to have video cameras in every game. The video cameras were only present in the featured game for the day (kind of like Monday or Sunday Night Football games featured in the NFL).

he was skinny when he was 17... when he was in LA he was quite heavy. god, don't judge him by his games in high school. in the NBA he played against Russel, Unseld, Walt Bellamy, Thurmond, Willis Reed, Abdul-Jabbar...

one thing you have to remember is that basketball back then was a game of speed not a half court set with post up players. If Wilt played in the 90's he would have been much bigger and stronger than he looks here. He would have worked out and bulked up to go against bigger stronger centers. If Shaq Robinson and Ewing played back then they would be sticks as well.
