Definitely not because I was running out of ideas or anything. :^) I knew that beast visibility would be impaired, so I made them colorful so you could maybe tell them slightly apart. Also makes later stages more interesting. "Why is it a square?" That's just how the backgrounds work. If I could change that I would have made all of the buildings breadsticks. "Why do we have colored spaghetti?" The beasts are color, when they take you over they fill you with color. I probably would have made it all color from the beginning but I had no idea you could do that until I did this one. Glad you enjoy it!!

Yeah, Urumi's theme is pretty weird and reminds me of some of the early game ones in Ten Desires. Considering the youkai she's based on, I'm pretty sure it sounds so weird because it's supposed to sound like you're underwater while listening to it more than anything.

[9:12] I can see why you aren't a huge fan of this game due to its similarities to UFO, but I think one of ZUN's main motivations when designing this game was to make it "UFO but better." Touhou 12 certainly wasn't recieved very well due to how much you _had_ to rely on matching UFOs to get extra lives and actually do a 1cc. In WBAWC, however, matching your beast spirits isn't nearly as necessary. While it provides a buff, matching spirits won't get you extra lives, so the mechanic doesn't get in the way. You're no longer obligated to rush into bullets to grab the right colors, meaning there's far more "room for error," as you put it. Between this and each type of beast spirit still being useful, I think this is a far more justifiable version of the system than UFO.
