You insulting the question about what is good about the caro kann, then being a pedant about "you don't need to know why an opening is good to be good at the opening" was so obnoxious. Get over yourself and just answer the question along the lines of "it's a solid and relatively easy-to-learn opening that has straightforward plans and decent piece development". You knew what the question meant and it is a perfectly valid question for a beginner to ask, not silly at all. People that are potentially interested in an opening might want to know the characteristics of it to get a feel for how it suits their play style before they invest a bunch of time learning it. You'd think someone who is offering a course on the Caro would happily answer such a basic question in good faith rather than being a condescending douche about it for no reason at all.

I had one game recently where my opponent did some opening I’ve never seen, i was like “I’m not sure what to do... I guess this knight move is safe, defends blah blah” and it ended up being a book move LOL

Whoever said the London is a bad way to *learn* chess has a point. Beginners who learn a system will often mindlessly play the same few opening moves, because they don't really need to respond to what their opponent does. It's bad if the goal is encouraging players to improve their opening knowledge or positional analysis, since systems consistently lead to similar positions. Learning only systems (especially only one system) won't make someone a great chess player, but learning systems as part of a wider opening repertoire is perfectly fine.
