This is great. I only really care about multiplayer and it's been really hard finding good content that isn't many hours long. That said, I'd be interested in a longer form version of this same breakdown, with focus on the some of the inflection points where there were a few different paths to take and your decision-making process. Anyway, great video and thank you for posting.

Thank you, it’s so hard to find comprehensive guides about BBG meta here, you’re a godsend. Could you do Gilgamesh next ? He plays so much differently than from the base game with all the buffs for farms and ziggurats and the revamped war-cart, it would be interesting to see a spotlight for him
@HersonCiv11 ай бұрын
Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos! I'll add Gilgamesh to the list of civs I'll prioritize making a spotlight on. The community I play multiplayer Civ 6 with runs a draft which gives each player only 6 civs to choose from in any given game, so I warn you that it may be a while before I'm able to actually get footage for a Gilgamesh spotlight.

currently in a 5 player lobby of my friends, playing as Pachacuti. I have 300 culture per turn at t200, 2 eras ahead as everyone else is 140 or below (we’re all pretty bad at the game lol), and im on par with the highest science civ (180 per turn) but im not sure how I can catapult my civ to outright winning. This helped a lot so fingers crossed I can use some of these ideas to win

Stack kilwakisawani wonder with suzerain bonusses. Make sure your cities are at +5 amenities and put your production/faith/gold into getting great people, tile improvements that yield tourism, waterparks and rock bands.

How Viable is culture victory on a game-to-game basis? Seems like a lot had to go right for this to happen (Mostly just your alliance with the top science civ, though only one player built the biosphere.) Kudos to you for pulling this off; (watched the whole VOD, great content) but would love a little more analysis on which victory types get completed in today's meta
@HersonCiv10 ай бұрын
Science victory is generally much easier than culture victory, mostly because it's harder to sabotage. Maximizing your science gives you the best military technology to defend yourself. Also, culture victory has to contend with the fact that every player that dies makes the victory condition harder - the rate at which you generate tourists with other civs scales with the number of civs there were at the start of the game. This means that it takes 2400 tourism to generate a tourist from each civ in a 12 player lobby, but only 1600 tourism to generate a tourist from each civ in the lobby in an 8 player lobby. However, if you start in a 12 player lobby and 4 civs die, even though there are only 8 civs you can gain tourists from, you still need 2400 tourism to generate each new tourist. If players start dying, culture victory quickly becomes completely unfeasible. My next video which I'm currently working on will be on a science victory, so you can look forward to that!
@ItsMinoAgain2 ай бұрын
@@HersonCiv Does that mean that culture victory is more viable the smaller the lobby is? My mates and I are going to play 4 players
@davidanderegg12322 ай бұрын
@@ItsMinoAgainit’s more viable the less people that die. And I suppose the more people going for culture the harder it is. But really just takes one real competitor for that.

When I how good players like you build their cities and choose the right districts, I see all my empires as a piece of trash, even tho I try to maximize adjacency, I still think my choise of districs is really poor coz I try to build too much prom zones and such. Like, turn 86 and you already have 600 science thats insane, even tho you focus on cultural victory

Thanks for the kind words. This video is focused almost entirely on the late-game, so if you want to be able to set these sorts of paces in your own game, I'd recommend watching my other guides on the earlier stages of the game and then practicing it for yourself. Anyone can get stats like these if they follow my advice and put in some practice! If there's still stuff you don't understand, I've made the full 5-hour long vod of this game available on this channel as well so you can study it to your heart's content.

Hi, I don't know if you still read this comment here, after 4 months but I'll try anyway. Thanks for the great video (really love the whole Guide Playlist). I am new to the Multiplayer CIV 6 and still have a lot to learn and improve. I also would've appreciated it as well if you could've explained how other CIVs pursue Cultural Victory as well (besides Kongo). Are Natural Parks useless for Cultural Victory or did you just not build them since your faith was way too low in this game? Cheers
@HersonCiv6 ай бұрын
National parks tend to be worse than rock bands unless you get them up really early (which is technically doable since Conservation can be unlocked well before Cold War if you rush for it, it's just not worthwhile to rush on most civs). By the time I started getting decent faith, I already had rock bands unlocked, so there was little point in putting up national parks. My newest full vod on Canada shows a game where national parks played a pivotal role in a culture victory, and I have a Sweden spotlight which details a culture victory I won without using biosphere.

@HersonCiv10 ай бұрын
Rock Bands are added by the Gathering Storm DLC, and are unlocked at the Cold War civic. National Parks are in the base game, and are unlocked at the Conservation civic. You build them with Naturalists, which are civilian units you can purchase with faith.

How do u discount if u go hub into preserve (for oracle) into theater ?
@HersonCiv11 ай бұрын
I didn't actually build any preserves because my land didn't have the appeal for them (see the rainforests everywhere). I never teched Astrology nor Celestial Navigation all game in order to make it easier to discount districts, so I was able to discount my first campus (turn 35) with commercial hubs + gov plaza (placed this campus before I unlocked mysticism), and then discounted an encampment (turn 44), and then discounted my first two theater squares (turn 45). I've uploaded the full vod of this game to this channel already, so if you're curious to see exactly what this looks like you can peruse that video at your leisure. I go on to discount some more districts later, like some industrials, an entertainment complex, etc.

sooo question .... should you go for some holy sites for faith generation? bc i was wondering if i am able to win a culture victory without largely going to war and risking getting overpowered by the person i try to pillage the faith from
@HersonCiv8 ай бұрын
It can be worth mixing in a few holy sites when pursuing culture victory. However, the leader I'm playing here, Mvemba a Nzinga, is literally incapable of building holy sites. It's also important to think of other methods of generating faith, since holy sites are often not the most efficient in the later stages of the game. Some civs can get away with building preserves to generate faith - most commonly Teddy Bull Moose and Maori (due to their civ bonuses for high appeal/unimproved land). If you have the city state of Chinguetti in the game, you can get a ton of faith just from its suzerain bonus. I even had a game where I was playing Gaul and wanted to pursue a culture victory, so I built the wonder Jebel Barkal in range of 7 cities for a nice 28 faith per turn around turn ~50. By the time rock bands became available, I'd accumulated enough faith from just that wonder to buy three of them outright, even with 0 holy sites in my empire.

How do you sustain loyalty so far away from your homeland in China?
@HersonCiv11 ай бұрын
China is in a dark age, which reduces the loyalty pressures their cities exert. I am in a golden age, which increases the pressure my cities exert (including the Chinese cities I am occupying). Lastly, I have a cultural alliance with Korea, and one of the passive effect of a cultural alliance is that culture allies exert 0 loyalty pressure on each other's cities.

Is the commercial hub opener standard for culture victories, or would you go for a religion if Kongo did not have the bonus to great merchant points? Say a Civ doesn't have overwhelming bias to go for either holy sites or commercial hubs, which would you say is a standard culture victory path opener? I am new to multiplayer, so with the nerfs to faith and monumentality in BBG it seems holy site > theater square isn't the norm.
@HersonCiv6 ай бұрын
In BBG, commercial hubs 1st -> theater squares + campuses 2nd is the default opener for most civs pursuing culture victory. However, there are plenty of civs with their own preferred build orders. Teddy Bull-Moose can go preserves 1st w/ monumentality, Qin Mandate-of-Heaven opens with Stonehenge + a religion w/ beliefs for extra yields on wonders, Gaul can go their unique industrial zones 1st -> theater squares 2nd w/ the divine spark pantheon, etc.

would Saladin be good for FFA
@HersonCiv11 ай бұрын
Saladin-Vizier is a very strong leader in general. In the Better Balanced Game mod, Arabia gains a major adjacency bonus on campuses from adjacent holy sites, so you generally just open with holy site -> gov plaza in your cap, and holy site -> campus in most other cities. You want to cluster your campuses and holy sites together in a big pile between your cities to get maximum adjacencies and choose the religious belief "Choral Music", which grants culture equal to the base yields of shrines and temples built in your holy sites. Beyond that, it's just a standard Monumentality opener like I outlined in my guide to religious civs on this channel. Saladin-Vizier becomes incredibly strong in the mid to late-game thanks to the 20% (in BBG) bonus to science, culture and faith in a city that has a worship building built in it. The only downside to playing Saladin-Vizier in FFA is that he's a bit vulnerable to early war. The standard district setup the civ wants leaves little room for encampments or commercial hubs, so you end up with low production and low gold, which makes you very vulnerable to an attack in the early game. You basically aren't really safe on that civ until you make it to the Monarchy government and can start working on building the Grandmaster's Chapel in your government plaza, which unlocks the ability to buy military units with faith. Because of this, I believe Arabia is best on a map such as Highlands, which spawns players far apart from each other and makes early aggression difficult. Saladin-Sultan is kind of unimpressive though in my opinion. Double support and flanking bonuses is pretty strong, sure, but there are still better war civs out there than him. Without the 20% bonus to science, culture and faith from putting a worship building in a city that Saladin-Vizier has, Saladin-Sultan is also unimpressive outside of warfare as well.
