Named in memory of the builders mum Desiree, "my mum was a red head with a firey temper so I thought it was quite appropriate".
Where to start with this unbelievable Mini. The beginning would makes sense.
Having started life in 1995 as a Mini Mayfair auto with a 1275 engine it presents some what differently today! The builder had a clear plan of what he wanted so sourced what he thought was a solidish shell and as always it turned out not to be. The decision was taken for a total and comprehensive restoration. All rot was cut out and replaced with fresh new panels, POR 15 metal prep, POR 15 anti rust then Schutz underseal paint, this shell is perfect. A full bare metal paint job then followed, the colour had already been picked and as you can see the candy apple red takes this build to the next level. Carbon fibre group 4 arches cover the brand new 13 x 8 inch revolution wheels wrapped in Nankang extra sticky rubber, this is soooo wide! All the normal chrome as expected, bumpers, wipers, grill with mega spot light set up, bullet mirrors, door & boot locks and a monza fuel cap. Upgraded headlights and clear lenses finish the whole look off. Worth a mention is the sun roof. The only clue to this Minis party trick is the leather bonnet straps, Dzus fasteners and twin exit exhaust.
Under the VERY impressive one piece metal opening flip front (which is a work of art in itself) sits a MJA autos totally rebuilt 240 BHP Honda B18 VTEC master piece! This was totally stripped, acid dipped, the crank has been polished, the block was honed and faced, everything's been balanced, lighten & faced fly wheel, a reconditioned head thats been ported & polished. ARP head bolts, brand new big end and main bearings, conversion set and all new accessories. RPC stage 2 clutch kit. Upgraded Speed Factory 70mm throttle body and of course theres a stunning Pro Series induction system for added BHP and sound. A slimmed down Tegiwa 12" radiator fan helps keep it all cool. Brand new rear subframe. A totally custom stainless exhaust paired with twin exit pipes sounds epic! Finished with a one-off cover stating her name and freshly painted. Holding this all in place under the standard front end is the famous Allspeed Engineering conversion kit linked to their bottom arm tie bar kit, drive shafts and CV joints, this kit alone is over £2000! The engine cost alone is the equivalent to a very special Mini. Fully adjustable GAZ shocks and suspension take care of your handling needs. Upgraded 4 pot callipers with grooved & vented discs look after your stopping needs.
Moving to the inside the outstanding and concours theme continues. Cream & red leather full interior including matching dash, centre console, door cards & roof lining in diamond stitching is just perfect! Feels like a Bentley! Front door pockets painted in matching candy apple red and full alloy door furniture. You will have noticed the Honda clocks, rev count, speedo, temperature and fuel gauges plus the extra Smiths fuel, volts, oil pressure & temp gauges in white. Red carpets just finish this off perfectly. Moving on to the audio side, we've a 7 inch media screen including apple car play, bluetooth connectivity amongst some other cool features. A Lotus Lantern internal lighting system allows for ambient light colour changes on an app which is so cool and can be paired to music for shows! The boot has a contrasting black & red diamond stitched lining kit finishing off this minis show winning potential.
Of course it goes without staying that Desiree does it all, she will win shows wherever she goes and is also an absolute rocket, so will destroy most Minis on track, if you dare risk it.....!
