Amazing Fact : Dreadnought - The word goes back to the late 17th century when it meant a "fearless person" or Bug in DRG:S (who dreaded naught - nothing) :D

For people without any knowledge of naval history, the word Dreadnought has connotations of a strong and powerful unit that outclasses other units through brute force not agility. That's what the Dreadnought Bug does, so the term fits it well.

Ah is that why it's called that. I'm pretty sure they never got used in an actual naval battle and were superseded in short order.
