Hello everyone! Welcome to your ultimate no-nonsense guide to playing the Queen's Gambit. This is one of chess's oldest, most popular, and simply best openings. As such however, there are many sprawling lines, ideas, and plans in many positions. To combat this, this video covers EVERYTHING you need to know to play almost every position coming out of the Queen's Gambit. I have covered all the mainlines, aswell as all the important sidelines.
This opening promises interesting and fun positions nearly every single time, and if Beth Harmon is playing it, you should too! Like and subscribe for more video like this!

Thank you so much for your videos bro im 1500 now and my entire chess repertoire and growth is due to your videos, they're like free chessable courses!! im hoping this video will take me to my goal of 1700/1800 by the end of the year!!!! As someone who started playing chess about 6 months ago as an adult learner from scratch with no prior understanding of the rules and game, I find your videos clear and your explanation easy to understand!!!! I was stuck around 500/600 elo and that's when I discovered levy and the Vienna which took me from that to like 700 then I wanted to learn more so I found your channel and the Vienna video which thought me so much!!! it was absolutely life changing in terms of chess, I went from 700 to 1200 so fast in like two months with nothing but your Vienna video with a close to 70% win/draw rate but then around 1200 I noticed I was getting crushed with the black pieces(I played the pirc)! around then the Caro Kann video dropped and after a while (2/3 months) I got to 1400/1500 with a mind blowing 70% win rate and I think an 85% win rate in the last month, but around this elo I had the same problem as before but this time In reverse! I was getting crushed with the white pieces here because everyone knows how to play against the Vienna and at the same time I was getting a lot of Sicilians and Frenchs and since Im in medical school with a lot of work and study I don't have time to sit around and study chess so I wanted a new 1d4 opening with white since that avoids the theory heavy Sicilians and 1e4 openings! so I was like I need to learn the queens gambit since I don't like the London and for the past week I was trying it out with some success and what do I get today? a queens gambit video I don't usually write comments let alone ones that are this long but istg thank you so much for all the effort you put into making these videos I just wanted you to know how helpful you've been to me and how thankful I am to have such high quality videos to study from!! I'm also glad you leave the pgns in the description which helps me play around with the structures like I want so yeah id say best chess KZbinr out there along with Danya! guys If you managed to read this far I'm telling you study his Vienna and Carro videos and you'll be 1400/1500 in no time!!!

1500 in 6 months is crazy. I started at September 1 and after 3 months now I’m at 700 elo lol

@@Kingslayer-64 I took a break from chess for like two months after I wrote this comment due to exams but I’m back to playing two rapid games a day now so I’m around 1700 now but I honestly think elo doesn’t matter as much after a certain point like, I have beaten 1900s and a guy who is almost 2000 but at the same time lost to someone who’s like 1500! I think there’s a bigger gap between a 1200 and a 1400 than between a 1600 & a 2000!!!

@@ravenin9612 I want you to know elo is just a number, i used to obsess over it too but just have fun and don’t think about the rating, if you do that it takes the pressure off which in turn increases your performance and I know you didn’t ask for any advice but I’m gonna tell you a mental trick that helped me, always ask yourself what does my opponent want before you make a move and defend everything like hell!!! even a lowly pawn!!! I know it’s easier said than done but if you do this and a lot of puzzles (do 3 rounds of puzzle rush before you even play) so you can ingrain a lot of tactical patterns! If you do that, I’m sure you’ll break 1000 before you know it, chess is a cruel mistress tho my friend so if you want any advice or help lmk and I’ll help you out as much as I can! 🤜🤛

Thanks for making this video Volclus! The Queen’s Gambit has been my go-to with white for 3 or 4 months now (it’s surprising how many people at the 1100 level take on c4). I’ve been playing 3. Nc3 (to prevent b5 and develop my knight to a strong square which will add pressure to d5) which has turned out pretty well for me but now I’ll start trying 3. e4 and see how that goes. Thanks also for teaching me the Marshall against the Semi-Slav and the Exchange against the Queen’s Gambit Declined. This is super helpful to me. Thank you!

Just to note that in 5:05, Black can play Bb4+, and the best (only) move is to move knight from b5 to c3, defending the check. Anything else is losing (including bishop blocks, king move). You end up in a slightly favourable, +0.6 position v.s. the QGA, which was not mentioned.

Amazing video as usual, @Volclus! You are a natural! I love these full guides covering pretty much everything, even though I'm sometimes struggling memorizing everything... but that is the way of things. I was recently wanting to try Queen's Gambit to add something to my Jobava London / Caro-Kann repertoire, and this is definitely a video I bookmarked immediately. :) Keep up the amazing work.

Even better against the Marshall defense is going Nf3 before the immediate d4, because in this case you can just get a +1 position or so, without the endgame where black has more drawing chances, and without black being able to contest the center.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:39 🏹 *The Queen's Gambit involves sacrificing a pawn for central control; opponents may defend or accept the gambit.* 01:50 🏰 *The Queen's Gambit Declined: Develop your pieces strategically, pin opponent's knight, and wait for the right moment to reclaim the pawn.* 03:37 🔄 *Summarized mission: D4, D5, C4, E3, develop pieces left to right, pin opponent's knight, and focus on strategic pawn pushes.* 06:35 ⚔️ *Aggressive pawn pushes create a straightforward plan; attacking is the best defense; maintain pressure for strategic advantage.* 09:36 🤯 *In the endgame, focus on maintaining an aggressive stance, exploiting opponent weaknesses, and capitalizing on tactical opportunities for victory.* Made with HARPA AI

At 3:28 you say that black can’t capture the knight, however this is not true. axb5 is a more then reasonable move (and actually it’s the main move in that position) and it leads to the Greco variation gambit, which can be extremely dangerous for white if he isn’t prepared. I think you should have included that since it’s the main line after 3… b5 and since I play that with black and always see people taking the exchange to then think for 5 minutes not having any clue on what to do and eventually losing (especially cause natural developing moves do not really work and in the main variation with Bb7 Ra1 e6 f3 f5 white has to take on f5 (which by itself isn’t a move that a not prepared player would ever play) and pray that he can stop black’s attack)

Hi guys, I'm checking the moves and the white position at min. 08:03 seemed not winning at all, black can go b6 and protect with a pawn both knight and pawn forked by white queen. I checked with stockfish and it does tell me there's no advantage at all. Am I missing something? @Volclus what would you do in that scenario? Whatever I try the engine tells me that pinning that pawn with dark bishop gives me no advantage

B5 in the accepted lines is actually a move believe it or not but therse positions are not performing that bad for black believe it or not but the main line here is sacrificing an exchange d4 d5 c4 dxc4 e4 b5 a4 c6 axcb5 cxb5 kinght c3 a6 knight takes a takes b5 rook takes a1 Believe it or not all of this is theory It's a bit Dubious but it's not that bad 29 percent win for black 35 for white
